Paneer, quark, Tofu, Peas, Lentils, Beans are also proteins that aren't meat. First 2 are dairy though in case you care.

If you go the legumes, nuts and seeds route (vegetarian options, basically) try to get more variety. Veggie options are incomplete proteins so you should mix and match to get everything you need. If you're eating meat, fish and dairy you're golden.

That's obviously what I would assume, but it's not a strong smelling thing and I can't recall actually smelling it. You have to get your nose right in there, surely? I think it depends on the brand, tbh. It's not an overwhelmingly strong smell for sure.

I can smell it from a room away. Eww. It's like that Marmite ad from years ago where the guy's date goes into the other room and has marmite. Except with more distance and less making out.

Same.
It's not a pungent smell, but it smells exactly the way it tastes which is deeply unpleasant.

If you want the best of both worlds, direct from Arnold himself:
THE BEST PLANS MAKE ROOM FOR INDULGENCES AND TEACH YOU HOW TO MAKE HEALTHY FOODS TASTE ENJOYABLE.
I love sweets. Adam makes the best protein ice cream so that people with a sweet tooth can eat a whole bowl and know it isn’t moving them away from their goals. In fact, because it includes protein and healthy fats, you can eat something that tastes like dessert and make more progress. Here it is.
INGREDIENTS: • 1 scoop protein powder of choice (we recommend chocolate flavour) • 1 tablespoon of almond butter or peanut butter • A few splashes of the dairy or non-dairy milk of choice. The more milk you add, the more watery/less thick it becomes.
How to make it: Stir the three ingredients together, place in the freezer for 30 minutes, and that’s it. You can toss it in the fridge for a more pudding-like experience.
To be honest, it's not (totally) terrible.

Is nutella still a thing? I don't think I see it in shops anymore. Admittedly, I don't go in many shops.

Some greek/natural yogurt seems to have about the same amount of protien as a protien shake.
I can't spell protien dammit.

Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, .ass hysteria, .... ME finally going to a GYM! Truly a sign of the end of days.
Wasn't too bad actually. Except they were playing Brittany Spears and now I have 'Whoops I did it again!' stuck in my head.

Just got some cheapo wireless earbuds that hook over the ear to use on the treadmill.
Sea Shanty-fueled running coming up.
Beats the gangster rap/dance music/80s classics they usually play

After a bit of an intervention from Mrs hedben, I’ve signed up to Slimming World... Follow-up - lost over 2kg so far, and that's even with a few days where I didn't stick to it for convenience (turns out it's quite hard to count calories when you're at a wake with a free bar and 70s themed buffet). It remains to be seen whether that means I'll stick to it properly and lose even more, or figure I can "cheat" on the odd day every week and get away with it. Still early days but things are moving in the right direction.

Consistency is everything, but even on days that you mess up, and obviously try to keep them low in number, forget about it and get back on it the next day. The only way you fail is to stop trying to do better. Every day you make the effort is a day towards the goal.

So I've started my holiday fitness regime. I'm on the 16 and 8 diet too which I find very easy for most of the week (I drink at weekends) Started on Monday with 50 press ups, a two mile walk and 5K on exercise bike Tuesday 75 press ups, a two mile walk and 5K on exercise bike Wednesday 75 press ups, a three mile walk and 10K on exercise bike Today I will do 75 press ups and 10K on exercise bike. Already starting to feel a bit fitter. Hoping to just get to a regular 100 press ups a day, two to three mile walk and 15K a day on the bike. I think that combined with the diet will be enough.
My question is how many days off (if any) should I take from exercising each week as the info out there seems to be conflicting?

It really depends on how hard you need to push to get it done, as fatigue will increase over time. If you need rest, take a day off and assess again the next day. There's no designated rest requirement, especially at that kind of schedule (correct me if I'm wrong but we're talking roughly a 30 minute walk, 30 mins of cycling and however long the pushups take?). If you've got it in the tank, go for it.
ed: Also, if you need a rest you can always just scale back for a day rather than stop. Just do a 4 mile walk and leave the rest, or scale the ride back to 5K, etc. Autoregulate based on how you feel on the day.

Not looking to buff up, just to get fitter. Also I'm very unfit... Yes you are right on the timings of everything. I read that you need to let your muscles relax for a day or two? Or am I doing so little that it doesn't really matter?

With that weight and height, being able to do that many push ups tells me there is a fair bit of muscle under there. You’ll probably look great if you can shift a bit of the fat

With that weight and height, being able to do that many push ups tells me there is a fair bit of muscle under there. You’ll probably look great if you can shift a bit of the fat I've done push ups sporadically for the last 20 years, at my peak I could do around 75 continuous (I'm doing them now in reps of 25 throughout the day) so I may have a bit of muscle memory that helps? My ideal weight was around 12 and a half stone just before Covid, I'm naturally slim built but a fat fucker at the moment. I did my back in just before Covid then ate all the way through it whilst working from home, hence the massive weight increase. Its the cardio stuff that kills me now, the bike is a nightmare...

Basically, yeah. Rests and deloads are gonna be needed for a bit more than you'll be doing with press-ups. If you're super sore then take a break, but otherwise you'll be fine.
