DPD just sent me a sorry you weren't in, with picture of the front door of our block of flats. Somehow the picture is making me furious as the moron didn't actually work out to ring our pissing flat I've been sat inside all day.

Our postman left four envelopes on the doorstep yesterday, you could easily stick all four through the letterbox at once the lazy shit.

If you’re going into a drivethru and you have no idea what you want, a stupidly huge order, or want to make a bunch of weird customizations, park and go in you cretin.

Work rant.
We ask people to do stuff, they say "yes", then ignore us and go about their days. We chase them up, they say "yes", then ignore us and go about their days.
There's no consequences for ignoring us, despite the fact that these things are all breaches of the contracts and agreements they have signed as a condition of employment, because we "don't want to be mean to people". This has created a culture where it's the norm to ignore stuff and nothing will happen.
Basically, my entire job is just chasing people nowadays. Sending emails, sending slack messages, adding a date to a spreadsheet. Is this what management is? I've mentioned it and I keep getting told "don't worry, things are going to change", but there doesn't seem to be any real appetite. They're still stuck in the mentality of being a 20 person firm despite having offices around the globe. There's such a thing as being too nice.
I wanted this move and on the surface, it's less work and more money... so, living the dream, right? But I'm frustrated with just chasing disinterested users (I'm a security engineer, not an office administrator) and I'm getting bored.

Yep, that’s what management is except when you’re lucky and have amazing workers.

More and more I think dogbot works at the same company as I do. (which would make me one of his nemesis who ignores IT's requests whilst politely saying, aye, no bother, I'll get straight onto that).

That might solve some of it, but if you give people no incentive to follow the rules you ask them to follow, it's inevitable some won't. Couple with more senior managers not wanting to take any action (mustn't hurt any feelings), I think I preferred slogging through the mud/snow/desert/Colchester carrying more than my own body weight.

On the plus side, same shit different company shows that you may as well just stick it out as everywhere has the same issues (based on an extremely limited sample size admitedly, but I'm trying to help you be positive )

JFC. New carpet fitted in the boy's room, left the bloke to get on with it. He finished and it's the wrong sodding colour. Checked the invoice and the bloke had ordered the wrong colour and I hadn't noticed on the emailed invoice (only checked the price!). They are replacing it (but I half expect to be challenged when the salesperson speaks to someone senior), which is good but in the meantime we have furniture arriving tomorrow and nowhere for it to go. Grrr.

I don't know if this is happening anywhere else but our local towns are being terrorised by temporary traffic lights.
We've always had a road or two that is prone to having spates of traffic lights being on them, and having 10-15 minutes added on to morning drives into work as a result. But for the last year they just keep popping up *every* fucking road. No route out of town is safe. There's about 3 different ways I could go to work and in the last few months I've been trying to see which way is quickest with extremely mixed results as the lights get put up in different places.
At this point it just feels like a campaign of psychological warfare. Every other day I see a open top truck by the side of the road laden with more traffic lights!

One of the traffic lights around here was actually arrested the other day for flashing in the park.

We’ve had non stop traffic lights all year, same in the town next to us so it takes forever to get anywhere. The other day one road was closed with no notice and the other one had traffic lights.
Last year they closed one road, had traffic lights on the other and shut the town centre for a fair. The whole town was a complete standstill.

Halfords number plate based parts checker strikes again. This time the completely wrong dipped headlamp for my other half's ancient Forester. Didn't think to check it against the one I'd pulled out until after a good ten minutes of contortionism and swearing. The old one went in within about three seconds. FML.

It's insane! I assume it's just gouging? Can anyone on here explain further?

Post Covid they shuffled the already extortionate prices, added in a few more categories for early booking and gouged those who can't book early for whatever multitude of reasons.

'In my day...' incoming, but I remember when a ticket from A to B was the same price whether you bought it on the train versus several weeks in advance. The only difference was on or off peak, if you had one of the various railcards, or if you wanted to travel first class.
Now there's so many different categories and variations. I can't see any real reason other than to confuse and sting the customer and make more money - it's another blantant con given tacit approval by the government's hands off approach.
Good thing we don't have a million reasons for accessible, affordable public transport.

It'd take the sting off a bit if they paid all staff a fair wage and provided a safe work environment for them, but nope... Inevitable fare increase in January here we come!

Trains in the UK are shit.
Pay what should be first class prices to get a second class service.
Might have to go back to coaches, at this point the National Express is probably more reliable and about as comfortable.
Currently on a train, Bristol to Manchester for work. 210 quid. Work cover the cost but that's not the point. Booked about a month ago so it's not even an in the day ticket.
And it's 30 minutes behind schedule.

drhickman1983 remember you can get a full refund if it's an hour or more late, when I used to get trains for work I'd secretly hope they'd be late as I could apply for the refund, naturally the system is set up so there's no link between who bought it and who can claim a refund for a late train so the workplace never get any knowledge of a refund having been issued. Check your train providers website for their policy, even 15 or 30 minutes delay will give you some kind of refund. Eg www.gwr.com/help-and-support/refunds-and-compensation/delay-repay
