Ugh... Insurance cunts!
Cancelled my house insurance before renewal was due and well within the allowed window. They sent me a chaser a couple of days later to sign my credit agreement (that I'd already cancelled), so I called them to confirm it's definitely cancelled (it was).
They then went ahead and took the scheduled direct debit at the new amount which was my reason for cancelling in the first place...
Couldn't be fucked calling them again and sitting on hold for an hour, so I just took the L and cancelled the direct debit and forgot about it.
They've now sent me a default notice letter saying I owe the full year of insurance plus £25 to cover their admin work.
You owe me money you utter fucking clowns! Hopefully sorted after another phone call, but bloody hell that's wound me right up!

Thread back OT. They are arseholes. Had an issue with my mum's vacant property - missed the renewal by 8 hours, and because it's an unoccupied property, they wouldn't insure it as a new policy. Found someone else for £40 more for buildings only. 50% more than the year before.

Sorry Danno. Came looking for you in here as you’ve been quiet but had mentioned it in here - have been worried/hopeful.
I do hope they offer you some sort of settlement and it will be very hard to see this now but I genuinely think you will look back and see it as a turning point where you escaped a toxic environment.
