A proper hard Juliana has invaded me, killed me twice and now I've barricaded myself in my apartment and covered the place in proximity charges. This is not going to go well. Edit: It did not go well. There goes my day. That was superb however. I haven't been invaded yet. Do you have to meet certain conditions before it happens?

Just ordered a physical copy from a local indie for the equivalent of 41 quid. Which feels like a bargain. How times have changed.

Frmo what I've read, so long as you're in an area and time zone with at least one visionary present, she will invade. If you're online I THINK it just waits til a player is invading rather than randomly do an ai invasion, but I'm not sure. I got invaded at noon in Updaam, got killed three times and began my day again. Skipped to noon, went back to Updaam (I wanted the slab upgrade from Charlie), and got invaded by a player again. This time, things got quite cool: I already had my preferred route through Charlie's game to 2-bit, so I got there by blinking around the building and an open window I knew took me right beside it. I knew she was hunting me but had no idea where in the entire map she was at this point. I previously found some hackers codes for 2-bit and had already done stuff with radar antannae over at Fristad Rock on a previous day, so had a few commands for it. The first one, evacuate the bulding, I'd already used and 2-bit actually remembers you from loop to loop, so he refused me that command again, likewise the one I had to make Charlie the target of the game. Thought fuck it and used the command to make Juliana the target. Turns out she was hunting me in that building, so erm, basically, it was like using a seed of the tree of giants from souls. Every ai turned on her and as I hunted Charlie on the roof, the whole building was erupting with gunfire til I got a kill notification for Juliana. Found her body ouside, think they'd tried to leg it.
That session there just cemented how much I love this damn game.

I am really bummed out about this but just hit the refund button on steam as the stuttering issues on my 2060 are just too much. I thought I would be ok as the 2060 is the GPU give at the recommended settings level. Oh well, was really looking forward to this, shall probably wait now for a big sale once it is patched up or for gamepass next year....

Think I will skip to evening again and get that infused and then go for it again. I actually keep forgetting about the slide mechanic. Oh and to echo what you said, I love the different approaches you can make. Multiple ways to your target. I was initially struggling with Fia? I then decided to try a different route, found a sneaky passage and it pretty much led me straight to her for the stealth kill. It proper made me smile like a geek.

Finally got a few hours to put in this evening and I've had a cracking start. My first two deaths in the game were accidentally switching a turret on and being mowed down by it, and falling into the water jumping across ice sheets.

I had some lovely gear that I didn't get to keep because I'm still in the tutorial stage (I guess).

addyb I do like when little events happen in games, I'm a sad bastard. This is why it's my type of game. Full of little amausing / cool things unfolding each time I fire it up. Not had a wing at Fia yet. Think I'm going to fanny about in the Complex for a bit though as have a few things to do there, spent most of my time at Updaam so far.

I had a classic quaddy moment earlier trying to show off to my boy my double jumping and shifting skills. Fell to my death twice, wiping my day and losing all my shit. He wasn't impressed.

Also, I was looking at my YouTube channel the other day, and I still have that Bloodborne video on there. You know, the one where you get flung into a chasm immediately, I come gallivanting to the rescue, addyb gets slung off a cliff, and I heroically fight off the said beast. Alas, only to also succumb to his last attack and join you two losers in the depths

I've a 3090 but bought the PS5 version to avoid the issues

Not quite sure what to make of this yet. The setting and story are very cool, but this does feel like a 15 years old game in everything but the graphics. Completely static environments, rag doll physics like it’s 1999, atrocious AI. Not that there weren’t games with stellar AI 15 years ago, mind. But seriously, it’s 2021. This is next gen exclusive. If I throw a grenade, or empty a machine gun clip into a library, I expect *something* to happen. There’s not even a modicum of debris. Enemies line up so you can shoot two dozens of them while not moving an inch. Audiologs I slightly tired of around Bioshock 2.
Hohum.

Sounds like you are having a similar experience to acg as he didn't love it either. I need to finish Control before I start this as I'm actively trying to stop the backlog getting out of control.

Well if deathloop is completely static with hardly any world response to you being there it's going to be the polar opposite of control since you can utterly wreck shit in that

It's exactly what I thought whenever I watched any of the videos which is why I was a bit surprised that the reviews where so good. I've pretty much convinced myself not to buy it now, at least until it's heavily discounted.

I get the feeling it's amazing game in the right hands. I'm enjoying it quite a lot, but I can't help but get the feeling of "I'm playing this nothing like I'm supposed to" the whole time. Compared to all the pre-release gameplay videos where the player flowed from one section to the next with a bunch of fluid moves and kills, I'm practically playing the thing like it's Fallout and making glacial progress.
Maybe familiarity will change that. But my basic tactic of crouch walk/stealth kill stuff and slowly scour an area has been so successful up to now it's hard to feel like changing it up.

It does seem that they've seen the speed run videos of Dishonored and built a game around that playstyle

Only done a couple of hours but it’s certainly overwhelming with so much to remember. Maybe I’m getting old but I simply can’t be arsed anymore with all this ‘use Slabs to do xyz’ / ‘add trinkets by pressing triangle’ / ‘thingymabobs may appear randomly, press Z to abc’.
I just want to play a game with great gameplay and not have to remember so much bloody info or get into nerd zone with it. Same happened to me with Doom Eternal.
Surprised this got 10’s but at the same time I can imagine having more hours with it and falling in love, ironically, because it’s so deep.
‘Feels’ a bit cheap though, like Prey did.

I must have spent a good 90 minutes there getting to Charlie, killing him, grabbing all his shit and then misjudging a jump on my 3rd life and losing everything I'd grabbed up to that point.
I really don't feel like I'm playing it right at all.

addyb ah, only tried fia once as well and that didn't end well. I've now done egor and got his slab as well as getting a couple of yellow tier guns, which is nice. So much still to do but I'm definitely making progress judging by the visionary tracker screen. It's quite amazing how big this game is whilst not seeming very big. Also, another juliana invasion delt with by being killed by her twice, yet the second death I lobbed a grenade at her feet as she killed me. Did the trick. I realise now the rewind death thing isn't just a safety net, but a tactic.

Managed to right the earlier wrong in no time at all taking the same path and cutting out the mistakes. Think the trailers in the lead up to this haven't done justice to quite how slow paced it is to start off with.
Level design just gives and gives. I keep finding all sorts of little shortcuts and alternate paths along with points of interest worth going back to later. Head and shoulders above most games in that regard for me.
