If it has the inventive killing of dishonoured without punishing you for actually doing that, I think I'm going to enjoy this. I've never understood this complaint. In what way are you punished for killing people? Getting a bad ending? The only gameplay impact it has as far as I know is there being more guards in the levels, which just makes it a bit harder (as the game is really easy if you go down the killing route). Makes sense that if you go through the game slaughtering everyone, you'd get a less than happy ending. Wouldn't it be more jarring for the game to just ignore the fact you're a mass murderer, like most games do?

I think it's more to do with the trophies, which seem to actively encourage you to play the game in a very specific way, when you're being given such wonderful tools to play with, all of which dictate that you don't play in said specific way. One extreme, and reductive, analogy might be 'beat Bloodborne without quickstepping'

That surprises me, I think you would really like both dishonoured games. You don't have to be super stealthy either, I'm always shit at first person stealth games and I've finished both. I did murder almost everyone though. Yeah I'm not sure how they bypassed me. I think I was one of those that assumed it was a stealth orientated game and just let it slide past me. Is Dishonored 2 as good as the first?

Well I'll never understand the obsession with trophies. I'm pretty sure there are tophies for getting the bad endings though

Yeah I thought the second was better as well but I'm not sure if that's the general consensus.

I loved both but the second one got more brownie points for voicing corvo with garret.
I also did both as completely no kill runs. Because the option was there, so I got stressed out having to decide. I can see Arkanes point. I'm off the fucking leash now. Yee Haa etc.
Anyway just tried this at 30fps with ray tracing. Yeah. No. Back to 60 thanks.

I couldn't really enjoy it as Corvo. It felt right that it was Emily's turn to look after herself. It fit the story much better for me

Yeah, totally. But Garretts voice, couldn't resist. I played it like a new thief game.

I'm not bothered about trophies, it's more that the game gave you mass murderer tools but tailored the game encouraging you not to use them.

The first game yeah because of the chaos system. Not the second though? I think.
Deathloop though, I'm skulking on rooftops with a nailgun.

I bounced really hard off Dishonoured 2 and I'm still not sure why. Usually love that sort of thing, but despite several restarts have never got beyond second level.

I completed Dishonored 1 for the first time just the other day and enjoyed it. I killed a few people here and there but mostly played stealthily and had a good time. I got a bit more violent playing as Daud in the dlc, but still finished with Low Chaos.
I've started Dishonored 2 now and it's good stuff so far, playing as Emily. I'd completely forgotten that D1 was a 360/PS3 game originally, so seeing the PS4/XB1 developed D2 is an eye opener given the decent graphical leap! Sadly PS5 doesn't have either of these at 60fps but I think XBS X|S does have the fps upgrades, for obvious reasons.
Anyway, for those playing Deathloop, have fun đź‘Ť!

I’m still torn, despite the very positive reviews.
I really didn’t get on with Dishonored - as already said, I felt it was always pushing me to play in a specific way that wasn’t much fun. And first person stealth is always a bit rubbish, though I realise Deathloop is more of a shooter.
That nagging sense of “just wait for Gamepass” is there too.
I’m glad it’s good, but not sure the hype has taken me in yet…

I'm probably gonna cave when I check Argos tomorrow. Plus it's been ages since the last shiny new PS5 game.
Ironically alot of gaming sites derided all the recent trailers, but they're actually what's piqued my interest.

Real issue with the trailers is that they must have shown more or less the exact same fucking thing umpteen times every single time there was a PS event. Pure marketing fatigue.
Probably suggests it's not the longest game ever, but I'd be happy with something that doesn't demand at least 50 hours to see everything.

According to the Push Square review, the game has a 12-15 hour runtime.

Day one done, which is basically an intro to the way it all works. It's more structured than I thought it would be, which is a plus, as the concept intimidated me no end.
It's hard to know how to recommend this, coming from someone who loves dishonored. It's got that game's fingerprints all over it, but it's very much not dishonored. Yet it is. It's that, prey, bioshock, returnal and yet it's got its own thing happening.
Early impressions mind. But it's a sexy game.

It is a murderous rampage if you want it to be. You have to pick your battles though. Go wading into a group of 3 or more and you will probably get taken out fairly quickly.

Had a quick half an hour and I've very much enjoyed it. Level design seems to be top notch. Looks like there are all sorts of paths you can take and secrets to unearth.

The PC version supports the Dualsense haptics and adaptive triggers, only when connected via USB though unfortunately.

Think I would rather use a better pad unless the haptics are amazing and the reviews I watched haven't even mentioned them really.
