Weird that it’s a problem on all controllers, makes it sound like a software issue on the console rather than a joycon defect. Update the switch software if you haven’t already?

Yeah, 3 in row so quickly suggests a software issue. Or its the right stick thats the issue as you can navigate menus with the right Joy Con too

Looking for some advice. My daughter has a Switch and her left hand Joy Con constantly pulls down, so you can’t scroll up through menus, can’t play games etc. if I recalibrate it then it works for a couple of minutes and then becomes dodgy again I got her a 2nd hand one when we were in GAME one day but it was exactly the same and I couldn’t be bothered taking it back so she’s been using a wired controller instead However I got her a brand new one and when we tried it yesterday it was exactly the same, straight out of the box, continually pulling down Anyone had the same issue or know how to fix? Sounds like it's defo something wrong with the actual software if happening to different controllers. Is it on a specific game? As my first thought is motion controls taking over..its not splatoon by any chance?

Last ditch fix would be to backup your saves and do a factory reset of the console

It’s Mario Kart she’s playing at the moment, she only plays that and Minecraft
I assumed a brand new controller would sort the problem but it seems a little more complicated

If you have anothet game that supports a single Joy Con you could test your controllers with that. In theory, if they were drifting downward as part of a pair, they would all drift to the left if using just the one of them.
I assume the issue is the same in both portable and docked modes?

Aarghhh!
It’s the red half also! Tested it earlier and looks like both the originals are drifting. At least that means that the new blue one is most likely ok
I always thought it was only the blue ones that suffered for the most part
I’ll just buy a new red one and send the two originals off to Nintendo
Most expensive console ever?

Not sure I follow, was under the impression 3 left controllers were all drifting downwards

Also the red/blue depends where the controllers came from, the red/blue that come with the switch are on the other hand than the blue/red you can buy separately

The original blue one was, but I didn’t realise it the red one was too
When I tried a different blue one it was probably ok but the red one was pulling down too making me think the blue one was still the problem
Does that make sense? Not sure it even does to me

The blue that comes with a switch is on the left, if you buy the controllers separately the blue is on the right, colour of controller isn’t necessarily a factor

Isn’t that if you buy the pair?
I bought just the left replacement and it was blue

They're saying both the left and right were drifting, so when they replaced the left one, the right one was still drifting on the menus, making it seem like the new left one was drifting.
It is more likely the left ones will drift, but its not uncommon for the right side to drift. It could well be that somwthing has got trapped under the stick and some canned air might fix it, but it was only ever a temporary solution for my Joy Con.

Anyone sent second hand joycons to be repaired? It asks for proof of purchase, so not sure if they repair them. Haven't googled yet.

I think my friend wrote a message saying they were a Christmas present and attached that instead

I did the cardboard fix about a year ago. There's no way they'll accept it for repair/replacement is there?

I've had both joy cons from my Animal Crossing Switch repaired recently, one last October and the other a couple of weeks ago, I didn't send any proof of purchase as I bought the Switch off a guy at work, and they were both repaired for free by Nintendo

I've had two sets repaired since January without proof of purchase.
