WTF Krösus, you've got aloe vera in your hand sanitiser? Do you sleep on techno gel as well?

I bought myself a DIY fix kit but am keen to try the hand sanitiser method first to save myself the faff.
This is probably a silly question, but in the description above what the hell is the gasket? I'm not a bloody mechanic.

It’s the soft flexible rubbery flap that acts as a dust shield, it’s not really a gasket in the truest sense

Seeiing how fancy forin hand sanitizers are, I'd also like to adda +1 to elstoof's suggestion to use that alcohol thing. Here's a video www.youtube.com/watch?v=GURa16H_QvM

The best solution, in my experience, is to send Joy-Cons and Pro Controllers back to Nintendo UK. Here's the link: www.nintendo.co.uk/Support/Contact/Repairs/Joy-Con-1910051.htmlI've sent two pairs of drifting Joy-Cons. Both were repaired and given extended warranties. Neither was actually in warranty. I paid nothing. I've sent in a Splatoon 2 Pro Controller that I got on eBay. It wasn't repaired... it was replaced with a brand new one (yes they must have a bin of them down there). Also for free. Edit - some things I forgot: - They pay the postage for you to send the things in - They send your stuff back in a nice cardboard box with the Nintendo logo on it, which I like - The whole process only took about a week for each of the things I've sent in Drift is definitely a blot on Nintendo's record, but the UK branch is at least handling it in the best way possible imo.

I did the cardboard square fix that was doing the rounds a couple of months back. Basically opening the joy-cons and placing a small bit of card under where the stick is. Something to do with adding pressure.
It worked a treat on my launch joycon. Who know how long it will last?

Thought I’d relocate the Switch to the living room this week (it was lost to the kids years ago). 3 out of 4 sets of controllers (including pro controller) have some sort of drift issue. These have all already been back to Nintendo once for fixing.
This should be such an inclusive and fun console but it’s massively frustrating whenever I pick up a controller.
I take it they’ve not made a v2 of the joycons that are worth picking up?

Managed to book a repair for 2 pairs of JoyCons and a Pro Controller with minimal fuss and UPS collection from home. £0. Would be nice if they just get replaced to be honest.
I did try the swap/lubricant method but that didn't seem to help any.

It’s pot luck really, I’ve not had any drifting yet with any of our 4 sets, but 2 sticks shat the bed after the kids dropped them on the floor and went all notchy

I do wonder if kids dropping the damn things is a contributing factor to this. I should have kept a set of JoyCons hidden away just for me.

Whatever you do don't try and play Tetris with it! I got my Switch off my brother, along with his pro controller. First thing I played was Tetris 99. After a few minutes I returned the pro pad to my brother to be CEXed and bought myself an 8bit-do. I use the d-pads all the time, so can't be doing with piss poor ones and I was getting some horrid ghost inputs really regularly. 8bit-do's are much nicer and the design is closer to the dualshock, which is my preferred style.

I prefer Tetris99 with the buttons on the Joy Con. I think having separate directional buttons actually helps.

I recently opened mine up and put a few bits of tape across half of the contacts. Worth doing, finally I can dragon punch in Street Fighter 2 (and play Tetris)! Once that's done it's actually a fairly nice pad.

Is joy con drift just completely random or is it caused by a specific set of circumstances? Asking as I hear about it all the time and people get it on most of their controllers yet I'm almost 44, owned consoles all my life and not one single controller has ever had it. I've owned every console with the exception of Microsoft ones from Xbox one onwards.
Am I lucky or is it down to my hands?

The SN30-Pro. Very nice pad. I think I prefer my PS5 pad slightly more*, but it is a nice alternative and works nice on all systems without much effort.
*I actually picked up the 8bit dongle which I believe should let the PS5 pad work on Switch, but only used on the PC so far.

I was talking about the Pro. I imagine the 8bitdo is fine from the get-go!

Love the switch but the controllers have some serious build issues, I've had one joy-con with drift and now my Pro controller seems to have developed the same fault. Can't be arsed to replace them so might just wait for the next Switch refresh, hopefully the 4K model, before I buy again.

The problem with joycons is down to the cheap off-the-shelf analogue sticks they're using. Good news (relatively speaking) is that they're cheap to buy and replace by yourself. Takes literally a few minutes. Unplug the old stick, plug in the new and close up the case. Done.
I had drift on two different Xbox One controllers (one being the fancy Titanfall edition) and Microsoft rejected my request for a free repair as they were outside the warranty period. They ARE repairable, but replacing the potentiometers is a bit more fiddly than the joycon sticks. Worth doing though!

Joycons repaired and should be arriving today free of charge. Not bad service for something bought 5 years ago I guess. They didn't accept the pro controller that I sent in for a free fix. Charged for repair on that one but if it's fixed or replaced I don't mind - I just won't let the kids have that one any more!

It was £40 for a new (and it is new) pro controller.

Not drift but my left joycon keeps disconnecting itself. I’ll be playing a game and suddenly it’ll think it’s been taken off. Does seem to be a physical fault as I can replicate it by wobbling it a bit. I’m not sure if it’s the connections on the switch or the joycon that’s going weird though.

Replaced my first joycon yesterday, was a bit of fiddle with the ribbon cables, but was easy enough, though I did need to use 2 pairs of glasses to see the battery connector properly, took 30 mins maybe. The Switch has got to be the shoddiest console I've ever owned though, I've personally had the dock fail on me (came back to life after a thorough alcohol clean), the pro controller battery just die completely and need replacing, and now the joycon drift, they really made this thing to a the lowest spec they could.

I consider myself to be very lucky with drifting. I have owned 4 pairs of Joy Con over the years, of which only a single Joy Con has succumbed to drifting. Bizarrely, a blast of compressed air seems to fix things temporarily, but it seems to return every few months.
Now, however my partner's Switch Lite has developed drifting and it is real bad. I'm attempting to open the entire unit today to replace the left stick, but could well end up breaking the whole console.
I should have probably bought replacement sticks for my Joy Con first to practice on, but hey. If it breaks I'm just gonna buy her a standard model. I'm sure she'd appreciate docked play a lot more.

And... All done. No drama. I'm lucky I was just replacing the left stick as the right one is attached to the motherboard. Would have been far trickier. I've tested it and all seems fine. I hope it lasts.

Looking for some advice. My daughter has a Switch and her left hand Joy Con constantly pulls down, so you can’t scroll up through menus, can’t play games etc. if I recalibrate it then it works for a couple of minutes and then becomes dodgy again
I got her a 2nd hand one when we were in GAME one day but it was exactly the same and I couldn’t be bothered taking it back so she’s been using a wired controller instead
However I got her a brand new one and when we tried it yesterday it was exactly the same, straight out of the box, continually pulling down
Anyone had the same issue or know how to fix?

I thought you could send them back to nintendo and they'd replace them? Did they stop that?
