Yeah, I always have to put a coaster or something over the power button to stop unexpected shutdowns. Same issue with my laptop dock when they're roaming the desk.

Velma has leveled up in the rat catching department:
Thank goodness she didn't bring it in the house!

The dog has developed a cough. I thought this morning it was linked to something he ate in the woods (someone had left out a bucket of god knows what, thought it could have been chicken bones). Got him an appointment at the vets but he then stopped doing it, so I cancelled it- I thought he'd coughed it up. Only for him to start again tonight. I don't think it's kennel cough, but you never know. Going to have to cancel his haircut due tomorrow too, just in case.

Mine have rarely seen snow they react in the funniest ways. Today they couldn't seem to walk properly because it was making their pads cold, so it was the dog equivalent of Phoebe's run in Friends.

thanks for that, yep really helpful, getting loads done edit: in other news, last year I figured if we can put a dog in space we can make a catflap differentiate between cat and cat+mouse: can't be beyond the wit of man* to train a model on difference between cat and cat-with-presents, load that onto a raspberry pi, a webcam, and a servo to open or lock the cat flap accordingly? * obviously beyond the wit of me, I'm merely the ideas man taking the credit and the money and the fame
... and now someone's only gone and done it - www.flappie.ch/

Happy 10th birthday to this little shitass! 9 and a bit years of 7am wake-ups that I wouldn't change for anything.

mentioned cats in other thread & mrpon quite rightly noted my failure to pay the cat tax, so presenting the lump, the sleepy behemoth, the ginger unit (who I'm afraid to say is no longer with us but I miss the ultimate extra furry himbo)

Good of him to try to mask that buttplug collection in the background. Can't buy that sort of loyalty

Any tips for fleas? My poor cat is being eaten alive
She has a flea collar, monthly spot on treatment and I've been giving her a pill once a week or more, plus using sprays on the carpet, washing everything , vacuuming like mad etc. The fuckers just won't die. I have only ever found one live flea on her

Change to a different brand of flea thingy, Spot-On was useless for ours so we switched to Advantage. Fleas become immune to certain brands. Daily flea combing helps too. Pretty sure people have mentioned other alternatives in this thread before ....

Yeah, go to the vets and get the good stuff (think ours are on Felicito or something). Over the counter wasn't good enough for one of mine, was also being eaten alive. And get some Indorex spray for the carpets and sofas etc and blitz the place. And wash bedding etc too straight away.

Ours were on Advocat which seemed to do nothing, so switched to Bravecto which has sorted them right out. We also had to get an exterminator in as the house was hopping with the little fuckers when we moved in.
Definitely see a vet rather than over the counter stuff, and ideally get rid of the flea collar too.

Lab ate something she shouldn't have and got the shits.
Now think she did it on purpose to get some new food. Little git knows she's got boiled potatoes and some chicken tomorrow. Tempted to get a muzzle but she was able to get the last one off her. Anyone used the straps? They any good?

OK the incredibly harsh light I use for painting is making her look dandruffy. But this is my 10 year old. Observe the fold out dining chair I have set up next to my desk so she stops fucking things up while I'm painting/working. Without it she runs around the room knocking over books/cutlery/mugs until I pet her on top of a soft thing (the sofa). So we made a distraction cushion specially for her out of old mattress topper.
