I think we’re going to have to put our boy down soon. Maybe even today. He’s been battling lymphoma for a few months, but in the past week he’s just deteriorated so rapidly. We think he has a stomach bug on top of everything else and it’s making everything escalate. Getting him in to an urgent appointment with his oncologist shortly. He can’t keep anything down, not even water, and can barely stand up. If it is a stomach bug I think there’s a chance he may bounce back a bit if he can fight it off, but it’s not feeling very helpful. Was hoping we’d get longer with the old boy, especially given it’s only been a couple of months since I lost my dad to cancer too. Absolutely fuck 2021 into the sun.

Aww that's sad news mate. 🙁 Sounds like your dog is struggling so it might be the kindest thing to let it go. Really crap though and I'm sorry.

Yeah, if he’s in pain and can’t have quality of life it’s the best thing to do. Just sucks a lot and it’s absolutely going to wreck my girlfriend, she’s had him since his birth pretty much, he’s 14 now. Two weeks before he was diagnosed with cancer a vet told me “there’s nothing wrong with this dog, he’ll live until he’s 20”. Fuck that vet.

When one of our old cats couldn't stand up, we thought that was the end, turned out it was just an ear infection. Sounds like your dog has got a lot more going on but here's hoping it's not something too serious

That's so sad Gremmi. I'm sorry for you and your girlfriend and obviously your dog. I hope you can both take comfort in knowing that you'll have given them a lot of happiness in their life.
As you say, fuck cancer. I'm glad at least your dog won't have to suffer. Take care and take all the time away you need.
Edit and yeah, fuck 2021, it's not been a year I want to remember.

Cheers all. Very weird morning here so far, I’m fine for the most part but my girlfriend is gonna take a while to recover and adjust. So many parts of our daily lives and habits revolved around him, especially for her. Our other two dogs are relatively independent but he was a real people person.
