Folk will stop paying if it’s too much. And given how the Xbox ecosystem works, will likely sell their console and migrate to a new platform.
I think we’re nearing the limit I’d pay for Ultimate, but I do have the privilege of sharing that subscription with my partner, so it’s hardly breaking the bank.

Both kids Gamepass have just run out. One is not bothered anymore but the youngest has now decided a month later that he wants to reup. Is the gold to GP still working?
If not is there a better route that just paying for a year?
EDIT: spent the morning not working and understanding this shit Seems any gold codes are now auto converted to Gamepass core. This can be updated to GPU at a 3:2 ratio, meaning 12 months gets you 9 months (8 from conv + 1 GPU purchase).

Anyone played Flintlock?
Seen it get a rather harsh reception in a few places but thought I'd give it a whirl regardless.
The first hour is shite basically, but now the rift travels are opening up along with side missions, upgrades, new armour, skills and better enemy variety I'm quite enjoying myself to be honest. Usual AA jank for a game of this budget mind you, plus some decidedly last gen graphics to boot (they get better later on in fairness), but it runs well at least.
It's not brilliant or anything, but as Soulslikes go it's got one or two neat ideas of it's own and it's not ball achingly punishing (yet) for someone like myself who usually bounces off these types of games pretty hard.

I've got it I stalled but launched dungeons of hinterburg first. I will get through that before having a look, although that capcom game is meant to be quite good so I may even look at that first.

Microsoft reportedly working on a cheaper cloud-only Xbox Game Pass tier
its not a good product if you are using this 100% of the time but this is the end goal of gamepass, using the cloud for all their games. Will not be in 2 years but 5 years down the line, I can see that (also no doubt their will be tiers of cloud only gamepass, pay for cloud ultimate for better servers

I’ve been playing a lot of looty shooty with the First Descendant and I have found The Curse of the Golden Idol to be an ideal come down low energy game to play. It’s not too hard and has a rather intriguing story. Perfect game pass fodder.

Seemingly a growing issue with users myself included not being able to acesss Gamepass content despite having a subscription.
Seems to be related to subscriptions that auto renewed on or around the 19th July coinciding with the Crowdstrike outage.
Gamepass/Microsoft still say payment will be taken on the 19th, though this has obviously passed and access has been removed.
24 hours in, the fix users found works is re-subscribing at the highest tier of gamepass at the new rates. Why people are that desperate I'm not sos sure, but usual suspects are saying this is Microsoft trying to force the new higher prices on people.
Not ideal for Microsoft. I'm always open for a tenner Uber Eats voucher though!

Callisto protocol is very enjoyable IMO.
Seem to remember it getting a pretty mixed response. Maybe a tough pill to swallow for 70e but on game pass it's a no brainer. Really enjoyed it, good length and decent narrative (for the genre).
At worst I think it's a solid 7
Edit; and it looks absolutely gorgeous

I gave it 6.5 just to be awkward. But yeah, it's perfect GP fodder and an enjoyable enough short linear experience in a world of bloated 60 hour+ games.

updating in the windows store tends to be shit show, tried to update the xbox app today, the moronic app can't close when you click on update and now its stuck downloading despite the app is closed. There is always reddit posts about the shitty app store, its not like MS is billion dollar company

They're a three trillion dollar company, which apparently isn't enough to work out how to reliably download files to their own operating system.

Mug here who bought it and came away extremely diappointed by it. Really lacked enemy variety, had some tiresome stealth, a melee combat system that became a bit of hindrance later and some absolutely cheap bosses.

The last boss was pretty funny. I guessed what was coming up and had a bit of cash to spare, so just filled my inventory with riot gun ammo and melted his health with the special shot. Although I'd heard it was a bit frustrating and just started it on easy, so it was probably never going to be a hard fight.

Would of liked to see the design process of CP as they made so many bad choices for the game (and some were suppose ex dead space devs)

None of if the bosses seemed hard to me and I never struggled for ammo, health or anything on standard difficulty. Perhaps it's been patched and adjusted since launch though.

It has been, I played it at launch and some choices were baffling like making health packs take something like 2-3 seconds to apply. These guys made Dead Space and for the life of me I was baffled as to why they made certain backwards decisions. I hear the ray tracing is still fucked compared to the ps5 version.

the health packs were sped up a little in a patch, also they put the health bar on the neck of the main character, which is not a good place for the player, should of been on the back. People that worked on DS games, got spilt across different companies, its likely the people that made tea and coffee for dead space 3 worked on CP

The telekinesis battery bar was one of the shittiest bits of visual design I've ever seen. The health bar was at least relatively legible, then there's just this vague "might be empty, might be full lol" attempt.
And yeah, the boss fights were universally shit. At least there weren't many of them though, and then they just repeat the same sub-boss a few times so you don't need to figure out new patterns.

If you are going to have 1 boss that you reuse for multiple fights then make it good (halo 5 also looking at you) I think the problem is game devs actually think the crap they make is actually good, the devs I've met in person love throwing the term "entitled" at any criticism

Shadow warriors 3 is leaving GP middle of this month, its very much "but we have doom eternal at home" but its worth a play on GP as there is some fun but the new Wang is not very good

Feels like they are trying to pace it out with the Activision games. Did they move all of Bethesda's games in one go?

But it use to be a lot better than this for 3rd party games. The last decent game on GP was Still wakes the deep

Kunitsu-Gami and Dungeons of Hinterberg were nice additions last month (although I haven't tried the latter)
Not necessarily AAA, but then I guess neither was SWTD.
