Can anyone help with some suggestions for some 2 player games for me and my significant other? We’ve just finished yet another Stardew Valley playthrough and are looking for something with a bit of meat on it. She’s into pretty much all genres. We’ve exhausted the Switch library for the most part and having spent an hour of the recent Lego Star Wars game, we’ve decided that’s not for us. Annoyingly, even though I have 2 Xbox, I need something split screen as my stupid 5G Wi-Fi contraption is woeful. Might sound obvious, but Minecraft? Also As Dusk Falls is a rather interesting story with some quick time events and voting to push the plot forward...

I can't remember exactly how the co-op works now (I think you both have to have created a single-player character and then one of you can "hire" the other, bringing them into the game) but my wife and I played through both games together extensively when they were released. IIRC we even got married and had kids in-game. Whilst Fable II is definitely the better game, III had the better co-op I think.

Folks, that is fine list of recommendations!
We’ve rinsed Minecraft for all it’s worth. We’ve also played Lover’s in a Dangerous Space time on Switch, but it was great! Fable might be a bit too big for us at the moment, given she’s playing Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and I’m still chugging through Tears of the Kingdom.
Terraria might be my next shout. I never really gave it much time back in the day, but it is still on Gamepass apparently, so happy days! It seems quite open ended, so hopefully is easier to sip in and out of.
A Dusk Falls is a great shout too! I completely forgot that game existed and we’ve recently sacked off Little Hope, so that might fill the void. I also need to see if Grounded supports split screen. I’ve spotted it a few times on Gamepass, but never really gave it a look.
Thank you very much, folks! Happy to hear more suggestions. I’m going to start putting a list together I think. Would be nice to keep the momentum going between games.

You could definitely play couch co-op because I've never had two Xboxes at the same time. It's possible I'm conflating memories of the two games somewhat, and the whole "you can marry other heroes" stuff was all Fable III.

Good thing I reupped for two years last month. I figured that might happen. On a related note, I can’t seem to redeem the new GwG from last week. Keeps telling to subscribe to Gold, despite being on Ultimate. Had the same issue, it has fixed itself today with a store update. Probably as a prelude to the new shitter interface, but now we'll always have Darkwood and The Vale:Shadow Of The Crown, if not actually play them.

Ahh yeah. It’s working now. Thanks for the heads up! Yeah, I probably won’t play them, hah. But it’s part of the subscription, damn it!Q

I read that the Gold trick doesn't work anymore? Apparently it now converts 3:2, which is still not too shabby, I guess, but also not as good.

Amazed it took them this long, to be honest I'm surprised it was ever a thing in the first place, they were practically giving it away.
Even at 3:2, if you're savvy with foreign Gold codes and a VPN this means you can still get a year's Ultimate for £35'ish.
Even at full whack £49.99 Gold code prices (which they never are), this is still less than half price, so well worth doing.

I read that the Gold trick doesn't work anymore? Apparently it now converts 3:2, which is still not too shabby, I guess, but also not as good. It did work when i did it on Tuesday, let my game pass run out at the weekend then bought 2 1/2 years of gold. Then bought 1 month of ultimate from cdkeys, which converted everything. Finally it then added 1 month for turning on reoccurring billing and now sat at just under 3 years of ultimate. Maybe if you buy the ultimate directly from Microsoft say by clicking one of the adverts it doesn't "work"? This is the exact same method i used 3 years ago. Only difference is back then i was able to get the 3 years with spending £50, this time i spent £96 as gold isnt nearly as cheap as used to be but still £2.74 per month isnt bad.

They changed pricing this week though, and presumably finally killed off the gold trick as part of that.
Excellent bit of timing on your part!

If i can resist using my Rewards points to buy games that's still a good way to keep the game pass sub topped up for free. In about 6 months (not keeping close track on it tbh) I've got enough for 6 months Ultimate without trying too hard at it. Still way more generous that any other platform's reward scheme.

And exponentially so when subbed to GamePass. I used to rack up something like 1500 points when I wasn't subbed. I've been getting enough for a $5 gift card just about every week lately. As much as I often considering selling the Xbox and focusing on PS5 and Switch, MS really makes it hard by basically giving games away.

Exoprimal is a bit of a pain with needing a Capcom account linked to your Xbox account, hope this trend doesn't continue (Redfall had similar I think). Only played a bit of it but performance seemed good.

I got locked out of Plants Vs Zombies Battle for Neighbourville(?) 20 minutes because I forgot I had an EA account. That was fun.

Ultimate just £1 via the ultimate sale I wish these were actual deals, and not just for new users. It might entice a few lapsed subscribers to return.

I don’t have any idea what’s going or why I’m fighting hordes of dinosaurs from another dimension, but Exoprimal seems surprisingly decent so far.

I see GTA5 has landed on Game Pass – both Xbox One and the X/S version. I was looking at my progress on the former and was surprised to see only 55% of players have unlocked the first story achievement

See also Call of Duty. It's all about the online mode.

See also Call of Duty. It's all about the online mode. It's weird that they made a separate GTA Online game, that you could purchase (at a lower price) without buying the base game, but didn't add that one to Game Pass along with GTAV (that includes Online). Unless they're hoping people will install it for the Online and then "discover" the single player - but I'd have thought they want that to happen the other way around. Probably less confusing to just have the one download for both though to be fair, as it's "free" with GP anyway

Really enjoying The Bookwalker: Thief of Tales, it was broken at launch (then the day one patch was delayed as that was broken!) but after couple of pages its better. Would be better with a mouse rather than gamepad.
There has been trend of devs throwing their game on gamepass and then focusing on the steam release. Was looking forward to Benedict fox game (as metroidvania with lovecraft sounds good) but its unplayable on xbox one and runs like arse at times on the one X (only the series consoles can run it due to bad optmisation) and gamebreaking bugs still.

Yeah, when I repurchased RDR, I bought the story mode because I had no interest in Online. Turns out I then I had to purchase a key for that 🫠

I usually get Game Pass through Microsoft Rewards, but they've removed it as an option :-(
I assume this is because they've increased the prices so maybe they're updating how many points you need, and they'll put it back on the service. But my GPU expires in a week. Grumble...
