Yes you can still play Skyrim SE on Gamepass after the anniversary edition launches as it's a separate SKU. In addition, the day the AE launches, the SE version we all have on Gamepass will receive a big free update that includes the next gen patch, the fishing stuff and some other new quest content.
£16 for the anniversary edition nets you all the curated creators club content on top of the above.

darkling If you own the SE or have access to Game Pass you'll get the performance and visual upgrades along with fishing and a couple of other bits and pieces. If you want the Anniversary Edition content over and above that (new quests, items and whatnot) then that will cost you £16 for the upgrade. And no, it doesn't matter to Bethesda that you bought the game on X360, and again on Xbone. I tweeted Pete Hines around the time of the Xbone release asking why it was a full price release and not a budget title like every other publisher was doing for their rereleases, to which he replied "Because we think it's worth it." Apparently that answer still stands.

It is weird that the Anniversary Edition isn't free to Gamepass subscribers. It's effectively a new game release from a first party developer so is breaking from form in terms of the Gamepass policy in general. Is it having a boxed retail release or is it effectively "DLC"?

It's classed as DLC I presume.

Thanks for the clarification around all this confusion.
I'll happily stick with Skyrim SE, with the performance & visual upgrades and fishing.
It still has the DLC add-ons, which I've yet to fully explore, and SE will still support mods, I assume.

Aaw, I just realised that the list I made of all my Skyrim mods, that was pretty well received at the other place, didn't make it over here anyway yes, I would have guessed it will still support mods, although it's anyone's guess if the older mods will play nicely with the official enhancements. There may be a period of catching up while the mods adapt to the newer version -or maybe not, if they're not being supported any more (they probably are)

I just finished Genesis Noir, which bills itself as a point-and-click adventure game but it's really a lightly interactive animated movie with some basic puzzles sprinkled through. And it's basically the best possible lightly interactive etc. etc. that I could imagine, which is a completely sincere compliment. I could remember nothing about it when I started playing it and while the basic premise is relatively easy to understand, the game just kept on surprising me, again and again. I had no idea what to expect at the beginning and I still had no idea what to expect two hours in.
It only takes a few hours to play through, so I implore you, don't read anything else about it, don't watch the trailer, don't even read the blurb on the store page. Just give it a try and let it take you on a trip.

For what it's worth, I did think Genesis Noir had some serious "oh wow, that is amazing" moments, but also quite a lot of "can we skip to the next bit already?" ones.

My daughter and I have been playing an hour or so of It Takes Two a night and it’s just about perfect for parent/kids co-op. Good looking enough, well put together, no horrendous difficulty spikes (though that toolbox boss can get in the fucking sea) and a huge variety of mini games as you go through. Think it might be about the best co-op game we’ve played.

I played Genesis Noir as well and also enjoyed it. And in as far as a game that uses an abstract art style can use nudity, I was very surprised to actually see nudity in it!
Also, is anybody taking a trip to New Zealand to play GTA: San Andreas early? No? Just me? Oh.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy unlocks at 10am EST / 7am PST / 3pm GMT on November 11, or 2am AEDT on November 12. That applies for all platforms, including PC.

I think it unlocks at 3pm tomorrow worldwide, not staggered EDIT - or, what user KD said

Wish they had given Game Pass users GTA3 instead of San Andreas. That's the only one I'm actually nostalgic about. Because it's the only one I've played.

Did Skyrim get its anniversary update yet? The home screen icon now has the XS logo on it, but I see the game is still using Auto HDR and FPS Boost.

It officially released today, but I noticed the option to upgrade on PS5 yesterday, so I'm sure it's the same on Xbox.

Just played for a bit, the game seems to be 1440p on my Series S so it must have been updated. Load times are very quick too. Guess there was no reason to make a full-blown XS patch when the resolution is upgraded and FPS Boost enabled.
No FOV slider though, which makes it a bit hard to play for me...

Just seen the news that PC Game Pass users will soon be able to choose intallation location per game, access game files, use mods etc at last. No more fucking around with the current app, randomly losing hard drive space, intsallation / uninstallation fuckups, failed updates etc. Though maybe let's wait to see how it goes.....

Dicey Dungeons is an indie game I've had my eye on for quite a while. Nice to see my "Wait for it to go on Game Pass" strategy finally paid off.

San Andreas was a pleasant surprise this morning, and I slid into it much easier than the latest game. I would have preferred Vice City though. That being said, the BMX is a lot of fun.

Update- full set of mods running on a new game works fine, it's just previously modded saves that are screwed. No idea if that will be solved by the mod community- if not, that's about 60 hours of levelling and questing gone then ah well, fresh start...

So what exactly is different with Skyrim? Other than the creation club shit that no one gives a fuck about what exactly has changed from this time last week.

Unpacking is a lovely little quaint game. I think that's what it's called. Anyway.

robthehermit I couldn't really tell, but I haven't played it unmodded for ages so I didn't really have a reliable before/after. Apparently it's 4k60 now.

About what I thought then, cheers. I might get stuck in later if I can tear myself away from Forza.

It was already 4K60, so not much has changed in that regard, but apparently there's now 120fps too.

Into The Pit is an enjoyable diversion. Short levels, rogue like, looks and plays like wizard quake.

Apologies if I'm repeating on here a bit but got a question about gold to gamepass conversion. My previous GPU has just expired today and in preparation last week I purchased three years of xbox live gold for princely sum of £80.00
If it's expired today, do I just redeem the three 12month codes together (perhaps in browser on computer) and then see a converion offer on the xbox? Not wanting to cock it up I guess main question being is it best to wait a period now it's expired and is the conversion still available for those who've expired?

Make sure your GP subscription has definitely expired, add the Gold to your account (I did it via the Xbox, but a PC is fine) then either
a) Select the £1/mth GP Ultimate offer on your Xbox dash, if available, or b) Buy a cheap 7 day GP Ultimate sub (I bought one from eneba.com)
Add the GP Ultimate sub to your account (I also did this on the Xbox itself) at which point it should prompt you to convert your Gold in GP Ultimate.
Where did you buy 3 year's Gold for £80 out of interest? Did you buy Turkish Gold and redeem via a VPN?
