My inability to cook a normal amount of pasta or rice. I always cook enough to feed a family of 12.
Even when I think I've put half of what I normally would in.

Coat the pasta in a smidge of oil and it does fine in the fridge for 3 or 4 days. I never trust leftover rice so maybe someone else can step in Anyway you guys know that scales exist right? |

Don't do it with bread, there's 9million spores sprouting in the rest of the loaf already. You should be alright with hard cheeses, but get rid if you have any bloom on the softies

Egg fried rice is one of my fave lunches. Always make sure that I do extra rice specifically for it as it's best with day old rice.

Fun fact - cooked, chilled, and then re-heated pasta has a lower glycaemic index than the fresh stuff so is actually healthier for you. Cooked rice is fine in the fridge for a few days so long as it was chilled promptly in the first place. It's letting it sit around warm that's the problem. |

If you have a set of measuring cups, then a half cup is enough for one person.
With an instant pot, I cook half a cup of rice per person and the same of water and cook for 4 minutes at high pressure and it's done.
As for reheating, you're fine to do so once, but be careful storing it and get it in the fridge as soon as possible. You shouldn't store it more than a day ideally.

I use to always make too much pasta but now I pour it into the bowl I'm using, remove a handful and then pour it from bowl into the pan. Have never made too much since.
The thing that annoyed me that really shouldn't is the safety procedures at hospital due to Covid. Got my 2 year remission check at end of month which involves an endoscopy and because of Covid I've to get a PCR and isolate for 3 days before. I get why I have to but since my annual leave doesn't reset until end of October it'll be 3 days unpaid. Shouldn't be annoyed about something that's necessary but it has wound me up more than it should've.
