Starting to get butterflies now, only a few days until some new Gears news! I still think Gears 6 is at least 18 months away (might get a little teaser ?) but maybe a Fenix collection ? as long as it is as feature packed as the Halo lot got I will be more than happy.

I shall be spending the day playing various Gears games/modes (I say that, I will probably have to be a dad and husband first!) in the hope the Gearsgods look favourable on my dedication and reward with some lovely news on our beloved COG's and Locusts. The trailer last night reminded me that I've not played through GOW5 yet. I felt a bit burned out after 4 so never tried it. Worth an install?

5 was an improvement over 4 for sure.
Gears tactics is probably my favourite recent Gears game. Much more of the OG vibe. It's also nearer e-day and therefore better. None of this newer enemy malarkey. Just good old locust/boomers/etc fun. The turn based stuff really worked well too.

Yeah 4 started poorly and I zoned out. Didn't enjoy fighting those robot things at all.
Started 5 last night and did the first 3 chapters and had a blast. It looks fantastic on Series X, and actually made me let out an audible wow at some of the scenes. It's also decently written too. Colour me impressed!

Re 4 and 5 glad you are having fun.If you play multiplayer I would suggest Gears3, still the best experience, but you might not like the "roadie-run cam" As for Horde, 4.0 is better than 3.0.

I love Gears (I may have mentioned that once or twice) and have a hard enough time with cross play against PC gods! it belongs to Xbox...However I do understand and it would only be a good thing to have possibly millions more players. At this point I would be surprised to see it appear on PlayStaion but I suppose if not with E-Day then when. |

The more people games are available to the better. It's shit when communities die because of a single player base to a fixed platform. Just think of how many more people you reduced to gibs with the gnasher.

Iām planning a playthrough of them all. Will be some time as Iām doing a Resident Evil job similarly first. Was hoping for imminent remasters of 2 & 3 but oh well.
5 was excellent but it is very big and long - itās quasi open world.
I have mixed memories of 4, although I do remember it at least looking great. Thereās some awesome stuff later on I donāt wanna spoil and can never remember the spoiler tag thing. Iām interested to see how it feels a few year on. I do think overall it was a cracking game but the three before set such a high bar for the story modes.
Edit - I remember preferring 4 to Judgement, which I didnāt play until Xbox One.

I don't think semi open world really works for the franchise, 5 is infinitely better than 4 but the game works best in a super detailed linear environment.

It does definitely suit a linear path much more. Open world is not for Gears.
Corridors. Walls. Popping grub heads with that juicy melon-burst sound and chain-sawin' mother fuckers is where it's at.
