I don't really understand economics. The conservatives answer to everything is tax cuts, and they throw out tax cuts before every big election, and they've been in power for the past 13 years, and somehow the UK apparently has 'the highest tax burden in decades'. And yet at the same time we've had austerity and massive cuts to things like public services. How did they manage to pull that off? The tax bit is called ‘fiscal drag’. You simply don’t raise the income tax thresholds and then, magically, people move into higher tax brackets and pay more tax, the more important part of which, is that loads of people in low paid jobs pay tax for the first time. As for austerity and cuts to public services, the British public rarely get off their arse to fight for anything.

I've no idea about his other ideas/policies/everything else but Andy Street is right about this.

Landlord: "We've never had it so good under Rishi Sunak."
that landlord needs a trip down the stairs for all the comments in the video. A really vile POS

I've no idea about his other ideas/policies/everything else but Andy Street is right about this. He’s probably the only Tory that I know of who will debate and accept good points rather than slavishly follow the party mantra. Probably the closest they’ve got to the Ken Clarke / Hesseltine type of Tory who can see things from the other person’s perspective.

That clips kind of amazing. He starts off saying people are spending too much on takeaways and branded shit, by the end he is arguing for a better welfare state. Do any of these people have a coherent argument where they finish a thought rather than going straight kneejerk? We're all guilty of it, but I like to believe that I would think things through to the end before phoning into a national radio show.

Maybe he realised what he sounded like and tried to save himself? or wants better welfare state to make sure he gets his money but thats it?
who knows with these people

Didn't these cunts cap child benefit to 2 kids a while back? Who knew there would be consequences.

They did their usual trick of saying they were going to scrap it, then revealed something not quite as bad. Only 1 child gets the full rate, the rest get a lower amount, plus it’s all tapered based on income.

And the income tapering is based on just one person’s income. One person on £60k and the other on £10k get nothing. Two parents on £50k each get the full amount.
It’s stupid and exactly what I’d expect from our politicians.

In many cases, childcare costs as much or more than one partners weekly wage. Couple that with a lot of people barely being able to live themselves, let alone having kids, I mean, who knew?

For fucks' sake, everything she does requires an immediate apology to be made. They might as well have a fucking template at the ready.

Some time between tomorrow and January 2025. Don't ask Sunak though, he doesn't like to speculate.

Peter Bone suggested a year but you wouldn't trust him with the revelation of which day to put the bins out.
Sunak will pray for a poll bounce and end up leaving it to the last minute, because there won't be a bounce.

In the space of this page alone, there's seven different links to some fresh Tory twatfuckery. I can only hope some of it cuts through to the electorate at large.

Eight.
Susan Hall continuing to baffle everyone as to why she is running for mayor by claiming London's Jewish community needs saving from Sadiq Khan.

Eight. Susan Hall continuing to baffle everyone as to why she is running for mayor by claiming London's Jewish community needs saving from Sadiq Khan. It's the whole anti semitic trope again. It's demonstrably bollocks. It wasn't a problem before Corbyn, hasn't been since. So you could say, 'Corbyn was the problem.' Except that's bollocks as well. It's hard not to look at conspiracy theories here, but it looks like a genuine socialist got too close to power and the press murdered him on spurious claims.

The left/Labour most definitely does have an issue with anti-Semitism and even if Corbyn wasn't himself he certainly was stupid enough to stand on platforms with people who definitely were and make numerous gaffs to make it look like he was.
Similarly, the right often has issues with people who are anti-islamic. Of course, the press doesn't go for them in quite the same way, but doesn't mean that it isn't there just as their zeal for attacking the left over anti-Semitism doesn't mean it doesn't exist there.

It's hard not to look at conspiracy theories here, but it looks like a genuine socialist got too close to power and the press murdered him on spurious claims. From an outsider's POV, and also using as much tact as I can, using 'spurious' seems like an extemely dramatic conclusion based on the rest of the (possibly) more reasonable post. Corbyn was, at the very least, _a_ problem. I'm not as knowledgeable on local UK politics to make more of a statement than that, but my ignorant guess would be that antisemitism was a problem before, was a problem during, and is still a problem after, Corbyn's leadership. It just got more of a voice at that stage, just like post-Brexit quasi-racist* shitehawkery has now got a space to live in, it did too. I agree that any potential genuine socialist (or even someone that can potentially be painted that way) will come under a ludicrous barrage of fucking nonsense from the UK press (and indeed, elsewhere). I think one of the problems of such a non-reperesentative democracy is the polarisation of analysis due to the polarisation of choice. And then actual nuances get bound up in binary decisions. TLDR: Corbyn wasn't _the_ problem. But he was _a_ problem. Although I have my problems with Starmer too and the complete lack of leadership, vision, and drive required to be anything other than the next leader of the Commons. *and actual full-on racist

Sorry, but this has fuck all to do with Corbyn. Not everything is part of a grand conspiracy to keep the Great Bringer of Socialism down. This is purely about Hall playing the 'Muslims don't like Jews' card.

Yeah it's the same playbook as Goldsmith saying Hindus couldn't trust Khan as he is Muslim or Bailey saying Muslims weren't integrating with proper British Christianity or something.
For some reason the Tories keep thinking it's a good idea to put up racist candidates who complain about multiculturalism in London of all places.

Thank God Corbyn didn't get in, or we wouldn't have had Bojo getting Brexit and Covid done, Liz tanking the economy, and the current Rishi show. Count your blessings
