I disagree. Speed bumps are shit and annoying. In areas that have been brought down to 20 the vast majority of drivers slow down which forces everyone to drive a bit slower. It's much nicer for everyone.
This is such desperate bullshit from Sunak and he genuinely deserves a punch in the face for it.

On the school WhatsApp chat we've discussed standing with pretend speed cameras on streets near by I just tend to catch up with cars at next lights (I invariably do, and give them a bolloxing).

I’m not a fan of speed bumps, a better way is designing roads so you have to slow down - put slight s-curves in which means you have to slow, impractical in a lot of cases but viable for new roads and estate.
Speed bumps are better than nothing if they’re done right, the single lane road traffic control is a bit annoying and seems like it causes more pollution from idling.

I like the area my in-laws live in France. All 20mph in residential roads, pedestrian crossings marked on every part of every junction, segregated cycle lanes on the main roads. Walking, cycling and driving is fine for everyone.
Why can't we have nice things too?

I’d like a law where people that indicate right to exit a roundabout get punched in the face.

They're 30, cars parked on either side of the road making it single lane, effectively, but you get boy racers going up and down. The street my gf lives on is a hill, 30mph, no speed bumps and her car insurance is £450 for the exact reason that people fly down and clip wing mirrors.

Most of my hometown changed to 20mph a decade ago, and most people seem to stick reasonably close to it. I assumed it was a national thing.

We’ve had it for six months and it makes basically no difference to anything other than fatality rates.
They knocked down all urban speeds by 10mph and everyone just splits the difference at 25 and 35.
The thing that the cranks always miss is that it’s not like you are doing the NC500 at 20mph, most people are nipping to the shops or doing the school run which adds like 40 seconds into your journey. It just isn’t a problem.
Genuinely my only complaint is that they spent millions on awareness and signage when the actual state of our roads, the quality, layout and street furniture needed addressing first. The lethal cycle lanes are still lethal no matter how fast people are driving next to them.

You only need one junction/round about/traffic light on your journey to make any gains you get from going 30 Vs 20 to be a wash.

We’ve got those really aggressive speed bumps round here, the ones you have to slow to 5mph otherwise you scrape the bumpers, just means every driver floors it between the bumps and every house on the street shakes to its flimsy Victorian foundations every time a truck drives past

Yeah my average speed after about 50 minutes of driving yesterday from south to east London was 8.8mph...
Going 30 for short bits of it instead of 20 was not going to change much!!!!

The brains trust didn’t think about it being a main route into Rolls Royce so things were violently clanking over it 24/7 and driving everyone crazy.

Where in the country are you? I'm actually in Lower East Tokyoshire.
But the hometown is in Devon.
I don't go back that often, so my impressions are only from brief visits. But at those times people have seemed to mostly stick to under 25.
Since I bomb around the country lanes at 60, it's kinda like standing still to suddenly switch to 20
But most of the time the city centre routes are traffic jammed anyway, so I'd say it makes about a 30 second difference in how long it takes to get into town.

Its laughable that rishi thinks getting rid of 20mph limit on roads will kept the public support back for next year. Rishi is trying to figure out why people don't take their private jet or helicopter to work
I still think its fucked up the hardcore "corbynistas" would rather have 5 more years of tory corruption, greed and fucking everyone other. (they even hate the lib dems) there was one of these cunts at meet up on friday, moans about the tories but hates Kier more
A-Z of tory sleaze (if any one on another forum asks what have the tories have done that is scummy)

Slightly surprised "CUNT" isn't right in the middle of Sunak's word cloud, it's certainly in the middle of mine for him.
