He's a Boris bot, a hopeless suckler at the teat.
So this should be entirely expected by Sunak's lot. He'll probably face these over and over again until he's not the leader anymore for daring to be so beastly to the greatest PM EVER!!

Gullis perpetually looks like an extra from the obligatory episode of a long running sci-fi/fantasy show where everyone devolves into cavemen.

As someone with a child who currently has special needs going into year 1 of primary school, I'd have to say it very much feels like there's barely anything left to cut. We've been waiting around two years to have anyone even come to look at our daughter, with still no word of when an assessment will actually happen, let alone how long it will then take to actually get a diagnosis and some affirmation that we aren't doing all the wrong things right now. Couple that to the school, with the best will in the world, if not being exactly uncooperative, but being unable to fulfil the care required to support her, its been a completely nightmare for literal years that just feels like its going to keep getting worse. And they want to make this harder? Maybe they can get a really wealthy tory to kick me in the balls each time I have to take another in work hours meeting to 'discuss' how we handle the situation (e.g. how i can help the school help me help my daughter). Yeah, took us 4 years to get my daughter an EHCP. It's made a definite difference and I'm always terrified it'll be removed. 1st year review was straightforward though. She moves up to secondary next year so it's absolutely crucial that she has that additional support. I hate to say it but my eldest is now in her early (well nearly mid) twenties and if you think SEN provision for children is bad wait until you have to deal with social services for young adults. I won't even go into details but it makes the years we fought - and thousands we spent - on getting an EHCP look like both a piece of piss and a waste of time. The system is beyond collapse, it's non-existent. She's not getting any kind of meaningful support and the family is at absolute breaking point, she has serious psych and MH issues resulting in large part from her SEN but massively exacerbated by poor provision of training, zero placements, zero options for independent living, nor even any basic MH support. It's honestly staggering how bad it is. I hate to think where it could end.

This is the same Gullis who resigned as PPS during the mass exodus over the Pincher scandal at the end of Boris' reign, ultimately bringing down good old Bojo, of course.

Who doesn't want them to all send letters to the 1922 committee though? It'll be fucking funny.

Bring back John Major or any other older generation Tory who at least weren't over-ambitious psychopaths who didn’t get enough cuddles from Mummy and/or Daddy.

2019 saw off any Tories that had much of a spine, I'd always had a lot of time for Damian Collins for his work on the DCMS select committee but he pretty much just went along with everything and now he's involved in the insanity of the Online Safety Bill.
Edit: it was spine not sponge, bloody phone.

Speaking of, I saw Michelle Donlan on telly today struggling to explain just exactly what it is. Apparently it requires social media firms to do checks...which they're already doing. Seems they've had the absolute shit scared out of them by whatsapp telling them they'd pull out. Same with telegram, which probably fucks up their ability to get drugs.

This relates to my point about people being angry and why it's justified. The arrogance and callousness on display is just astonishing. These are the people advising governments.

otto sorry dude. The whole MH system is utterly broken. It's just not fair. I was only a child when the Tories started spouting “Care in the Community” and even at that young age it seemed a bit odd. Now, decades later we see the results. The principle is good, but - as ever - the Tories underfund it until it dies on its arse. Another bit of the NHS gone. Result.

On employment - I am absolutely just going to cash in on dad's death and fuck working myself into the grave, to not even see retirement. No chance.

Haha. Macron can't be bothered waiting for an election and has invited Starmer to come see him so they can discuss future policies etc.

I can only imagine what it must be like in the even longer term. Completely exhausting and heart-breaking.

I can only imagine what it must be like in the even longer term. Completely exhausting and heart-breaking. I wish I could offer a positive spin on it but honestly SEN care in the UK has been completely shafted by lack of funding, but also because of poor strategy - putting the responsibility in the hands of the people who are also responsible for a shitload of other responsibilities without the money to do any of it properly. Meanwhile central government washes its hands.
I think a big part of this is establishing and maintaining a relationship with key people in the local authority, especially social services. If you can keep those links alive, then you're ahead of the game. In our case, my ex and I splitting acrimoniously and having poor communication with each other let alone the LA has made things much worse. So maybe don't do that if you can avoid it. D:
edit - but for sure a diagnosis can be very useful in unlocking things - tough but worth persisting until you get one

Yeah, we were lucky in that my daughter is also under another multidisciplinary team in Oxford for various conditions, which enabled us to get a clinical psychologist to assess her and insist that she needed an EHCP. This ultimately tipped the balance. She'll remain under this team well into adulthood so hopefully that will help.

We had an excellent consultant at Guys who was instrumental in our getting her statemented back in the day - though it still took a bunch of expensive lawyers, Bromley only backed down a couple of days before it went to trial. But subsequently he moved away and nobody stepped in to fill the gap.
