To be fair Peter Thiel is way more evil than Saruman.

In an interview with the Daily Express, Lee Anderson, the Conservative deputy chairman, delivered a characteristically blunt response. He told the paper:
"If they don’t like barges, then they should fuck off back to France …
I think people have just had enough.
These people come across the Channel in small boats. If they don’t like the conditions they are housed in here then they should go back to France or better not come at all in the first place."

Next up: The Electoral Commission is clearly not fit for purpose. We will replace it with one that works for the people, run by [insert donor company here].

When you get told 'if youve got nothing to hide, youve got nothing to fear' when the government are overreaching on data harvesting, this is actually the thing you have to fear.

It's one thing having an opinion, it's another thing being a senior politician and expressing your views like that.

They will always tacitly/explicitly endorse shitheads like him because they *want* an ignorant shithead to 'say what everyone is thinking'.
All he has done there is distill all of their policies down to 'send them all back'. He isnt expressing his views as much as the partys views in a way a good chunk of their voters want to hear.

I'm sure Tories will say something along the lines of "well he's an SNP councillor so he's bound to say that."

They're not fucking prisoners. I'd expect them to have basic necessities.

They've detuned the TVs in the rooms so they can't be used, forcing them to use communal ones, I mean that's a bit prison like isn't it?

Depends. I think some prisoners can get a telly in their room, for good behaviour on the reward system.
So, currently, prisoners seem to be winning.

It's actually game consoles without any components for online or bluetooth, apparently it cost a lot to get one for your cell and is paid by behaved prisoners doing jobs.
No I haven't been to prison but a few people I know have and it's quite an earner for the company supplying the service and I had ideas at one point of trying it myself.

If they have them in their cells, then they aren't mixing in a room, fighting, passing drugs etc. Easier for the officers. I went on a tour of our local nick last year, was a real eye-opener. The Prison service is essentially a care service for people failed by society. And the odd baddie.

It's fucking awful, if you're in there for anything minor (relatively speaking). The worst part is the number of people who are just dumped there while waiting trial.
Strongly urge anyone to read Prison A Survival Guide. A partner worked with the writer and did a lot with the prison service. Absolutely not fit for purpose and I will bang the drum of legalising and controlling drugs all day long, to avoid that.

As I said in the thread - once you've been directly impacted by serious violence, a lot of your compassion/ empathy/ tolerance/ whatever just goes right out the window.

That's not a universal truth, it's usually more a hardlining of what your stance already was.

It is a hard one to quantify. Intellectually I am opposed to the death sentence. But, after my daughter’s cousin was murdered, and the farce of a conviction for those involved, I would happily see a few people executed. But that is an emotional response, not one born of thought. I could be more considerate where the crime doesn’t involve anyone close to me.

Well, I hope none of you have to experience it. I can understand why it might make a person feel that way, but I don't think that everyone is affected the same way. Fwiw, I have experienced incredible violence (although not really a murder I guess) and I'm quite a bit more liberal (or at least, laid back) than I used to be about lots of things

Yeah being locked up 23 hours a day with some fat obnoxious farting cunt in a tiny room on a bunk bed with a ps4 (with a controller with stick drift) and a shitty small screen, then allowed out for an hour to walk around in a concrete square then eat some god awful slop for every single meal sounds like a *real* treat. They are definitely winning there. What a life they are having.
