I can no longer mock him for this, as I basically did the same thing in a coffee shop a little after laughing at Sunak. My excuse is that the person in front of me swiped what must have been a loyalty card on the other scanner, so I was just mimicking them. I haven't yet borrowed someone else's car for a petrol pump photo op to make it look like I drive a Kia.

You didn't do it with the nation's press looking on so I think you're probably okay.

Argh, Wilko's appointing administrators 😢 They're the 21st Century Woolies that we all need. I live 5 mins from one, and it's like having Amazon on your doorstep. www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-66395824

Don't have a Wilko down here, I assume like B&M and Home Bargains? I find both places quite baffling tbh.

Basically, yeah. It was the original cheap shit home shop and was squeezed on all sides by half a dozen companies that came in and ate their lunch.
Robert Dyas does it better, poundstretcher does it cheaper, B&M does it bigger..... they were fucked for a while, its just been a matter of when.

Oh, I like Wilkos. The shops have a particular smell: a mix of fertiliser and laundry products.

You get a better class of people in a wilko than a BM. You only go into BM when you've run out of other places for that weirdly specific bathroom item.

I used to know a few young Scottish journos and, certainly around Brexit and the independence vote, they were fucking vocal about how they felt the BBC didn't represent Scotland

Bizarre, he's an transphobic Unionist. Not sure when he thinks the Scottish Greens changed their policies on these.

The bbc don't represent anywhere outside of London or Salford I don't think the UK ones openly attack the Government, as they do the Scottish Gov. I voted No in 2014, but the anti-independence bias of BBC Scotland was so obvious, it was blatant.

This Greenpeace protest is a massive wake-up call for the security services. It’s beyond party politics. Could have been much worse if it had been some other nutters doing it. This Greenpeace protest is a massive wake-up call for the security services. I assume there will be questions asked as to why groups like this aren't being watched. At the same time there's an enquiry going on into (amongst other things) why groups like this are being watched. Yes I'm aware the enquiry is primarily over the tactics used. Don't shoot me.

Made the mistake of flicking on to Jeremy Vine this morning. Absolutely hateful little cunt on there, bleating about "those people who retired during covid should go and find part time work to make ends meet and maybe they should have thought about costs before retiring".
Perhaps these people retired because they were approaching retirement anyway and didn't get the impression their job would be kept? Or perhaps they're not all millionaires and they thought they'd be dead within 2 years? Or maybe, just maybe, they expected a competent government to not absolutely fuck it for everyone.

I assumed they realised they could stop working due to their finances. I do worry about how people are going to cope with old age going forward. eg people taking early retirement without enought money put aside. When they scrap the OAP in favour of the workplace pensions, a lot of people will struggle.
It would be really useful if we knew when we were going to die, would help you budget better.

I am wondering when the average UK person will decide not to vote Tory? Massive corruption from the tories, underfund services so morons say "look NHS does not work!!!11111" crime up as less police and tory mp don't even hide their extreme views (the BBC has been whipped into docile mouth piece) very little media push back on Fishy sunak's new oil deal where his wife's family massively profit from
Of course you will get the gammons and "I'm alright jacks" will vote tories again. Had the misfortune of meeting some gammon at social event last night, an climate change denier, "cheeeeeky" nandos, brexiteer gammon. An utter fuckwit, everyone tried to steer clear from him
Then you have someone I use to be friends with before I moved to the US, he is the "well I'm alright jack" type. When he got married, his parents and his wife parents gave them a bit sum of money for deposit for house in a really nice area. Wife has always had good jobs, no kids at 43-ish. 3 to 4 holidays a year (one or 2 aboard) Noticed how smug his messages got in the last 4 or so years and life long tory voter.
tbh how screwed the world is right now, I fully expect Boris to become PM again as the gammons cheer
