and there's only one direction that the finger can point now that the dreaded EU can't take the fall. au contraire, I think you'll find it's all the fault of the immigrants, disabled, gays, lefty lawyers, and eco nutters. And the last labour government. And the french.

I think it'll be a Labour majority, just perhaps not as large as the polls currently predict. They will narrow significantly I think. Although it'll be a proper hospital pass of a term.

On the topic of renewable energy installation
According to Statista, the below are the top 10 over the past year. Interestingly apart from China being Miles ahead of anyone else, the other top 4 are big polluters too.
Notice however that we're not on the list at all? Green energy leader my arse.
1. China - 1,161 2. U.S. - 352 3. Brazil - 175 4. India - 163 5. Germany - 148 6. Japan - 118 7. Canada - 106 8. Spain - 68 9. France - 65 10. Italy - 60

What are the numbers? Thousands of renewables made? Etc.

A table of numbers with no explanation is indeed pretty useless.

I think Twitter is probably better now that we can only see the embedded tweet, not any of the replies. Although I do kinda want to see the 4.3k people calling her a moron.
I assume politicians never read any of the replies to their tweets anyway.

A table of numbers with no explanation is indeed pretty useless. Still could provide a relative comparison I suppose? I would guess that the numbers probably relate to GWh of renewable capacity as that is what is usually quoted at national levels.

Could certainly be doing better, although the UK does have a world leading amount of offshore wind and that's increasing. As of right now (at this lunchtime) a third of UK's power is coming from wind and solar, hopefully it goes up while gas turbine use drops off.

Yeah our offshore wind is world leading but we pale in comparison to our European peers in total renewable.

Too many fucking NIMBYs in this country whinging about having turbines on land/solar or rather a small amount of NIMBYs that this shitty government panders to.

I believe we recently got the news that war torn Ukraine had installed more onshore wind than the UK in the past year.

Well yes, on-shore wind is effectively banned in the UK at the moment.

Birbalsingh can fuck the fuck off.
She basically pulls back the curtain - strict selection. This is the thing people don't realise; she's running a fucking grammar school. I went to a grammar school and we did alright but call a fucking spade a spade.
Sure, we had some kids off the local estate but the threat was always "well, do YOU wanna go to the local comp?" if they acted up.

I don’t really understand her argument that you don’t get “lovely schools” without “intense selection”. Is she saying here that some schools will never be good? That only schools with selection criteria can be “lovely”?
Edit: sorry but to state the obvious here, shouldn’t we argue to increase the level of all schools? That children should rightfully expect to get a “lovely” school regardless of which one they go to??

I'm not sure who she is (or thinks she is) arguing against when she says that a lovely school needs rules. Has anyone suggested that schools shouldn't have rules?
What many people don't want the schools to have are rules that effectively turn kids into mindless automatons. Rules against bullying/harassment good, rules against critical thought and feeling scared to question authority bad.
Also feels like she doesn't understand that people are critising her when they say she is only a success because she only allows her school to accept kids that are going to do well.

Might be some fun stories about George Osborne coming up, popbitch have the outline but clearly the details are very actionable and half of fleet street will be trying to second source and legal departments on overtime
Bet it's cocaine tho.
edit: paste from popbitch:
>> Wedding hell << We all got mail
There's going to be some awfully awkward chatter in the pews at George Osborne's wedding on Saturday. Yesterday, the bulk of the happy couple's guest list (alongside a number of national newsdesks and a handful of Westminster power players, who were helpfully BCCed) received an eye-popping email from an anonymous sender.
Running to 2,500 words, with multiple attachments and links for further reading, most of the allegations it contains about George's personal conduct are absolutely extraordinary (and absolutely unprintable). Suffice to say, they all fall under the header of "Bombshells".
It's led to some feverish speculation as to who would do this in the run-up to the big day. A disgruntled former colleague? A disgruntled former wife?
Whoever it is, even the most hardened hacks on Fleet Street were left open-mouthed at the nerve required to send such an incendiary email. It's certainly not the most dignified way to air your grievances with the groom, but at least they had the good grace not to leave it until the vicar asked if anyone had any objections.
