All political corruption is bad, whatever the amounts involved and the colour of their rosette. If you make or enforce the laws the punishments should be far harsher than just regular crooks.

Someone with more police knowledge than me can correct me. But I thought the process was that if you're a suspect in an investigation, rather than a witness, you're as standard arrested under caution for interviews, then released while they wait to decide if charges are necessary. E.g. the whole thing is totally normal.

zephro I'm also led to believe that is the case, but can't say with 100% certainty. I do fear the people who genuinely believe that Sturgeon has been secretly emptying the coffers of the SNP all along, in order to pay for a souped up mobile home for her mother-in-law, like some parody sketch of Goodfellas, are going to be somewhat disappointed.

Under the law in England and Wales you have to be interviewed under caution as a suspect but this can be done in a number of ways. Arrest is the (old) standard with certain conditions needed to justify the actual arrest. Voluntary interviews under caution are a lot more common now.
I've no idea what the deal in Scotland is though as they have and totally different set of laws.

I know we occasionally talk about what a survivor Gove is but Schapps has really flown under the radar in terms of longevity considering everything about him.
Is he just a really nice guy to have around the office or something? I can imagine him being better company that most other recent Tory cabinet members.

Yes, Schapps Schnapps and Crapps have all gone, it's Shapps now.
Actually it seems a combination fanatical loyalty to whoever is in No 10 this week, and just not being as self-destructively stupid as most of your colleagues is the answer here. He was for instance competing with Gavin Williamson for the lower ranked cabinet jobs for a while. Should be a breeze really.
