If Sunak had sight of Starmer's questions in advance then he's doing even worse than is humanly possible.
One thing Corbyn got right (although he often did it really badly) was the personal questions from real people. Starmer was fairly good at deploying them too to stop Boris's general campaign bluster and sound bites that he reserved for the final question. Needs to go back to a bit more of that. His attempt to launch a policy in PMQs yesterday was pretty terrible.

They should ban those questions that are like:
“Does the Prime Minister agree that everything he does is the best and that members of the government benches have exceptionally large and nice penises?”

Those are always awful.
Actually being able to ask a question doesn't happen that much for most MPs and many do use them to ask seemingly minor but important questions for their constituents, normally because it forces the PM to commit to a meeting or stops a review from disappearing into obscurity.
And then some sycophantic twat uses it for a bit of brown nosing.

There is a place for the government's own MPs to ask questions, as well as highlight the work going on in their constituency, but they really shouldn't have it as part of PMQs. It just means every other question is a back patting exercise.

They do - each Department answers loads of written PQs and then once a month, oral PQs.

not sure that's the case? least it wasn't the case in the past that the PM had advance sight of LOTO questions They do not see them before hand. Just the ones from their own backbenchers who choose to do so. E.g. if one of your own backbenchers is going to ask a bad question they tend to not warn the PM. So for PMQs they tend to spend a lot of time gaming out the possible questions the leader of the opposition will probably ask.

IIRC both Truss and Sunak had relatively good showings when they attempted to actually answer questions from Starmer (maybe 1 PMQ session each). Then they just tore a leaf out of Johnson's book and answered with soundbites about something else altogether. It's a complete waste of time watching it now. Don't think I'll bother again, as it just frustrates the shit out of me.

I understand Truss not being able to answer stuff as she was as thick as the bowl of stodgy porridge she replaced, but Sunak does appear to have some actual intelligence. He should be able to answer Starmer's questions. His team must think-tanked it and decided that meaningless bluster plays better.

They can't answer his questions directly because it shows how incompetent/dishonest they have been over thirteen years.

Don’t worry about PMQs. Rishi was doing a tough interview on the This Morning sofa earlier

You mean discovering Sunak loves Jilly Cooper novels isn't what the public wants to know?

It would be funny if the Downing Street gates couldn't stop a car doing about 5MPH.

I read that comment as "Momentum car crashes into Downing Street gates" and thought Owen Jones had finally snapped.

Sometimes I feel sorry for him, but then I remember he's an obscenely wealthy Tory enabling scum like Braverman and my compassion fades to dust.

It seems that some Government communications requested by the Covid inquiry have conveniently been deleted. I know it's been brought up before but someone will again have to explain to me how people are allowed to do official work on platforms that allow for this to happen in the first place.

I am genuinely amazed that he didnt revert back to his default settings and squeeze in something about the 'five commitments'.

You have to remember they’re playing at being humans in much the same way they play at being parents whilst sending their kids to private boarding or pretend they like the Arctic Monkeys whilst owning a full rack of Chris Rea’s back catalogue.
