Same with petrol the other year, prices are now going up because companies are just YOLO hiking them to increase profits. And utilities. Gas is about the price it was per therm about 3 years ago and yet unit cost remains through the roof. Even after Ofgem lower the cap.

Starmer really needs to get out his big boy KC DPP pants on for PMQs today. The Home Secretary did a crime, tried to cover it up and the PM is too scared do anything about it, its an open goal

Clever lines at PMQs don't really mean anything though.
Labour could present clear-cut evidence of a murder with a body and murder weapon included and the government would just go 'yeah, but you smell! nah nah!" and no-one would care because most people don't watch PMQs.
Starmer needs to get on some non-politics TV shows or something and make the point there.. using clear simple language rather than clever lines that just come across as point-scoring.
Well, he probably doesn't need to do that anymore with the Tories self destructing on their own... but it wouldn't hurt.

It's odd how encrypted messages are suddenly importantly private when they were sent by Boris.
Apparently, they're worried about some "irreverent" comments he made about Sarah Everard.

MPs to Facebook: "Stop encrypting messages and preventing police seeing them"
Also MPs: "No you can't see Boris' whatsapp messages. Fuck off, pigs"

Tata are investing in a new U.K. car battery plant! It’s only costing us taxpayers £800m in subsidies for them to invest in Britain, what a boon for us all

The message back was probably: This file contains the complete set of papers, except for a number of secret documents, a few others which are part of still active files, some correspondence lost in the floods of 1967, some records which went astray in the move to London and others when the War Office was incorporated in the Ministry of Defence, and the normal withdrawal of papers whose publication could give grounds for an action for libel or breach of confidence or cause embarrassment to friendly governments".

As far as I can tell from the last few times watching PMQs, it seems to consist of Starmer asking a pointed question and then Sunak standing up and not bothering to answer the question at all, but say a few soundbites about stopping boats, being a government for the people, etc... its infuriating.
Is this par for the course or has it gotten worse? Because I barely see the point in its present format.

It makes a mild change from the torrent of lies.
Sunak's delivery is hilarious, it's pure my dad is bigger than your dad

That's pretty much it, they should be made to actually answer the question or at least the opposition should just keep repeating it to make the point it's a farce.

Tbf, that all sounds quite normal for most opposition questions for the last goodness knows how long (or since they were televised). It only became a thing in wider consciousness in the last 10 years or so imo.

It makes a mild change from the torrent of lies. Sunak's delivery is hilarious, it's pure my dad is bigger than your dad Mr Speaker, his delivery and speaking pattern is exactly the same every single time, Mr Speaker. You could replace any of his 'retorts' with any of his other ones over the previous weeks and no one would be able to tell.

Johnson obviously just bullshitted his way through PMQs. He very much had a few scripted bits that he would always get in somehow, even if they beared no relation to the question.
Truss then tried to do the same thing, but as with most things, she was shit at it.
Sunak's first couple of PMQs were actually not too bad. Maybe not actually useful for anyone, but at least seemed to be bringing some kind of level of debate to the proceedings. Then he realised he wasn't actually going to ever win taking that approach and just went back to the Johnson playbook for them. They've been a shitshow ever since.

Sunak *has* got a spine, but, seeing him standing next to fellow world leaders, it’s apparent it’s the length of a seven year old boys.

Sunak did start out by answering questions, repeatedly got rinsed by Starmer lining up questions to catch him out. So has just reverted to going "ner ner ner ner"

I only remember PMQs being completely idiotic since Boris. They’ve never served any useful purpose for as long as I can remember before that and the general population don’t give a shit about them.

I think it was Boris who completed the trend of making them entirely pointless.
Before him people did usually at least try to say something vaguely relevant to the question. Almost no-one watched them or cared, but they weren't a total waste of time.
These days not only does no-one watch them, but since the PM doesn't even make a pretense of answering the question they're a total waste of time for all involved, and it doesn't matter how well Starmer does in them.
Frankly, Labour should start refusing to ask any more questions until the speaker forces the PM to answer the first one.

They need to start asking relevant questions that aren’t guessable by Sunak’s advisors, Avoid stuff in the news this week, but ask questions on stuff that is relevant to the public.

They are given the questions in advance so they can be briefed properly. It doesn't serve anyone if they have no idea as there's no way anyone can have the answer to any question at all. Not 100% on opposition questions, but definitely the rest. Otherwise you'll just have blank looks and lots of shuffling of paper.

Yeah, I know they get a heads up on the local MP asking about the drains in Dunny-on-the-Wold, but if they get a heads up on opposition questions that makes the whole thing even more pointless.
The main thing I want is Starmer asking questions that can’t be batted away by Sunak having a bi-polar episode and thinking he heard a different question
