Satire is truly, truly dead. I saw that drama Years and Years not long ago and I gotta say it's looking like that might be closer to our reality soon enough.

I haven’t checked but my impression is that everything that show predicted has come true so far. Even the fashion.

I thought Patel was bad but she's another level.
Honestly, why is she such a nasty, nasty piece of work? Does she genuinely believe the crap she sprouts or is it just her attempt to win votes?

The Express is more of a joke of a newspaper than The Sport.

Shall we sell products to our biggest and closest market? No, that's too sensible.

Satire is truly, truly dead. I saw that drama Years and Years not long ago and I gotta say it's looking like that might be closer to our reality soon enough. Lets hope so, time is running out for them to perfect the mind upload tech I'm planning to make use of in 25-30 years time. I think she really does believe it. People get radicalised by what they consume. When I went to Uni I believe Nelson Mandela was an evil terrorist and AIDS wasn't caused by HIV and that Greenpeace were evil. I gradually became less right wing to become a fully fledged member of the tofu-eating wokerati. Looking back, I think my views and opinions where shaped by The Sunday Times, which I used to read cover to cover when living with my parents. Whenever I visit my inlaws, my intelligent mother in law will always say something about the environment, EVs, heat pumps which is plain untrue - a quick look shows it's been pushed in the Telegraph that day. Despite knowing that we've had 4 EVs in the last 7 years, she rarely fails to tell us what's wrong with them and why they just don't work.

Suella gets more ridiculous by the day. She could be kicked in the street by skinheads and defend them.

Sunak should be firing her, she's not only fucking useless she's making the entire party look like cunts.
Well more like cunts than usual.

Probably more valuable to leave her where she is and make sure the blame sticks after the next election. The Conservatives need to go through the same process as Labour and haul the party away from the ideological nutters and back to the centre ground

Gove appears to be Mr Reasonable Moderate in comparison to the direction of the party now which is interesting. He’s going to end up having a Hague or Ken Clark late career spin as a liberal’s favourite Tory at this rate

He was proper Cameroonian so that's not that surprising? He still gone further right/loony than he was then.

As an aside, why is anyone bothering to pretend there’s any doubt about Piers Morgan obviously doing all that unethical shit at the Mirror?

He’s going to end up having a Hague or Ken Clark late career spin as a liberal’s favourite Tory at this rate Everything to the centre of him was kicked out under, or left just before, Johnson. The centre gravity has shifted around him.
Some of the noises coming from him around property and tenancy reform was actually quite progressive, by any Tory yardstrick. The rest of the party will never let him get away with it though

Gove shouldn't be considered that moderate compared to the likes of Braverman; he was also speaking at the same Nat-C conference as her. Although it sounded like his part was very dull and not as inflammatory as others, his very presence at the event tells us all we need to know about which wing of the party he is part of.

Most of Gove’s policies have always been ok even if he wasn’t a Tory, his issue is that he’s an untrustworthy chinless coke fiend who would kill his own family if it gave him power.

Which is better than an untrustworthy chinless coke fiend who would kill his own family if it gave him power who's policies are not ok.

One query for our resident civil servants.
If this committee haven’t reported by the time an election is called, is the inquiry scrapped or is it just suspended until a new committee is formed after an election?
|
|
|
Post by Dougs on May 16, 2023 21:44:32 GMT
I suspect scrapped entirely, as committees are newly formed after each election, and representative of the House in their make up. More one for Parliamentary process than civil service though. Suspect this one will be pushed through. Although the reports often misunderstand Govt policy, sometimes willfully (this is different, obviously).
