I’ve voted. Get off your arses and do the same.
Unless you’re planning on voting Conservative, instead use the time to develop something useful, like a conscience

The Tory council cunts know full well they'll lose to Green here. No effort to door knock, just a leaflet highlighting all the bad stuff that the nasty green party would do if they got in power.
I bet if I actually fact checked any of it it'd be complete nonsense.

Tories can't win in my ward so not even had a leaflet from them. I did find it nice that the Green leaflet said 'Vote for us....or your Labour candidate, if not'

The Conservative leaflets here have all been green in colour and only mentioned Conservative on the back.

Stumbled across this today. That's 3 separate houses, all right next to each other, all with flag poles built into the front of their houses waving the union jack. I didn't spot it at the time but just behind there was another two doors down. Glad I don't live on that street.

Will remember to vote in the right place this time, last council elections I just automatically walked to what was my old junior school as that had been my polling station for decades. Got there and no sign outside and I was clearly in the wrong place, looked at my polling card and my polling station is now a mobile one they put in my local lido's car park.
It's also half the distance to walk, which is nice.

My driving licence is forever on me when I'm out and about at least.
Anyone who has already voted have any issues? My updated license at least has a photo where I look less like a ghost than my previous once but it's not great.

Had an invitation to a street party on Sunday. I was immediately sick. They're old people who smoke so hopefully it'll be more CORONER than coronation, soon.

Back from the polling. Had my ID heavily inspected, with the lady officiating looking at it for a good 15+ seconds. Studied it more than my passport is checked when getting on a plane!
Also had to show them the number on my voting slip before putting in the box, I assume to prove it was the same slip as they gave me. Don't remember ever having to do that before.
Had the usual Tories standing outside the polling station, doing exit polling, but clearly with their blue ribbons on display. I'm sure they are breaking the rules. Stuck my headphones on before they could approach me (listening to James O'Brien, which I'm sure they would be disgusted by if they knew).
Went with the two Lib Dems, but don't tell Labour or they will snatch my membership card back! Lib Dems are most likely to beat the Tories here, even if the chance is ridiculously slim.

Voting just a bit slower than before with the photo ID check but other than that mostly business as usual.
Certainly no checking I'd done anything odd with my ballot.

I think it's useful if they have rosettes/colours on when they approach you outside, so you know what tack to abuse them on. Once I was getting stuck into the Labour and SNP guys (they were closing the school we were voting in), while the Tory had a laugh. So I was then able to get stuck into him on other issues.
In Scotland, these new rules will only apply to UK stuff, so just the General election.
I take it English council elections are still FPTP? We went to larger multimember wards a few years ago. Makes it harder to get majorities, but you'll generally have a selection of folk to approach with any issues.

Nothing like ordinary people being given a tiny bit of power to make them feel they're really important.

Nothing more than a half-hearted glance at my driving licence before I was given the ballot paper. I can sympathise because they looked bored out of their minds.

It'll be the wards that matter where they'll really scrutinise the id.

If the Tories really gave a shit about voter fraud they would have used these locals as a test, get people to show ID but if they didn't have anything say that they'll need it at the next one.
They don't actually give a shit of course, more Tory MPs have been found to be sex pests this Parliament than there have been cases of in person voter fraud.

If they really cared about voter fraud they would look at how to make postal votes more secure and not worry about in-person votes. Postal votes are known to not have much protection and is where the majority of cases of fraud have come from. There is next to none in person.
Of course, postal votes are also most commonly done by the elderly and are more likely to be from Tory voters, so we wouldn't want to have any possible disruption for them.

Don't give them ideas, I had enough hearing about fucking postal votes for the American election.

Just back from the polling station, and I hadn't intended to hold onto my ID when presnted, but I did. Didn't lead to any akwardness, nor did they ask about the ballots afterwards.
Nobody does exit polling here, probably because it is very blue. Hope the Liberals actually depose the morally vacuous turds.

The middle-aged housewife on the desk also inspected mine like she thought I was trying to get into the country with a kilo of heroin up my arse.
Admittedly, I do look a bit different, shaved head, shorter beard, no glasses but, christ. RIP any busy polling stations.
