They'll probably turf everyone outside for safety reasons when the power goes.

I wouldn't put it past them, they're obsessed with the trans community.

We're in the bizarre situation that Rees-Mogg agrees to a public information campaign about energy use reduction, which admittedly we shouldn't be in a place to need, yet Liz Truss scraps it because it's too nannying. She's clearly fucking mental and it's not surprising Tories are panicking.
edit: damn you Doug!

I saw old Rory opining that it’s a bit of a misnomer to call them Conservatives anymore because they aren’t actually interested in conserving anything. What we have are student level Libertarians running the country.

They've well and truly turned into BlUKIP now, they were pretty much that under Johnson but the conversion is complete.

That block on the Moggy energy use plan is thrown into focus by watching Question Time. Everyone is in favour of it, regardless of party colour. Wonder if Truss will listen again?

During the leadership campaign there was lots of Westminster gossip from journos that Liz was being kept from the public as much as possible because every appearance made her less popular and made people think she seemed weird. The Robinson interview was the big one they dodged but there were others. I don’t think I’d have guessed she’d be anything like this chaotic and batshit.

It makes so little sense, did they think they'd lock her in a cupboard in No 10 and no one in the outside world would notice that an escapee from Arkham Asylum was now running the country? She's so batshit I'd rather have Joker in charge.

At least we have signed a MoU with the North Sea bloc to access some of their sweet sweet energy.

Liz Truss is the Conservative version of Corbyn. She’s been forced upon her party Mps by their membership.
It’s beautiful, tragic and painful .

To be fair, Morgan seemed fairly sane when he was over in the States (relatively). Could at least agree with him quite often when he was talking about the madness of the proliferation of guns there. And Dorries is only saying what she is saying as she thinks it might open up a window for her bessie (purely platonic, honest) to worm his way back in. Gove and IDS though... yeah, that is a weird feeling.

Piers problem is/was that literally everything is the hill he is going to die on, even when he has a good take. 'Gun culture is out of control' isnt an enormously radical stance even in American but he set at it like an obnoxious lunatic and probably did more harm than good, ruining his career in the process. When he was on GMB people frequently posted 'I cant believe Im agreeing with Piers' during covid but he interpersed that with committing a harassment campaign on national TV.
If you just made a good/bad list of his takes, he would probably come out better than most conservative broadcasters. His problem, really, is that he is an absolute twat.

This is my issue with Piers. I've known one or two people who've worked with him and he's generally thought of as courteous and polite - OFF CAMERA.
I think, like Clarkson, he's got so much into the character/ brand that it's kind of become who he is. I'd quite like him to just chill out and stop making everything a fight or an attack.

Seen even the BBC have picked up on Truss going against the "save energy" plan. Must be knives out in the back benches, now?

As much as I don’t want blackouts, it would be good if there were some just to give the experts more credibility that is continuously ruined by the press always reporting these things without making it clear enough that they’re worst case scenarios.

It's bonkers.
It's ok to tax and borrow to cover energy costs caused by Ukraine war, which gives everybody debt, but not OK to say to think about energy use as Russia might do bad things?

The thing is, there'll be rationing of a sort anyway. If some people get their bills in Nov/ Dec, they'll naturally go "fuck that" and just turn shit off.

Probably a stupid question... does people spending more on energy bills equate to higher (measured) economic growth?
What about people buying 2 phone chargers instead of 1 (iPhone I'm looking at you)?
My gut feel is that it shouldn't and probably doesn't... but I don't know if "growth" accounts for efficiency?

Today I learned that Jamie Oliver is part of the 'anti-growth' coalition as well as people from, holy shit, 'North London '. Is there where we are now?
