This’ll be Reforms highwater mark too. These parties are always all talk and at best an unfocussed protest vote

It's absolutely unreal the difference in various social feeds this morning, especially Tiktok. Reform content has dropped off the face of the earth, it was absolutely relentless in the run up, over 50% of vids, now it's the odd real person moaning, less than 1 in 10 vids. It mean it was obvious there was a concerted bot run campaign when you looked at the profiles etc but the way its gone from 100 to 0 has really made it obvious to more people hopefully. My hope is that they are revealed as charlatans quite quickly and melt away. The only thing is Tories will want those types of voters back. The biggest challenge for Labour isn’t the economy, it’s changing our culture back to be an informed, critically thinking, welcoming one. However I think that’s a generation or two off and beyond politics. I think it’s a long game that involves waiting for lots of people to shuffle off the earth, and I think we would all be nuked by then anyway.

Reform are only in this position because the Tories heavily pushed their voters into thinking that immigration was the biggest issue in the country

Unfortunately the wild horses (and humans) in New Forest West continued to vote Conservative. Swayne lives.

Oooh, hadn't seen the 4 seats for Reform. Not as good as the zero I wanted, but still better than I expected last night. I can see Farage getting bored of it after a while as they don't have any meaningful power and fucking off. Just need the news to ignore them for a while, please.
FPTP can be quite good sometimes...

Which were the best crisps Danno? I was salivating over the roast beef monster munch.
The best thing is you get to have pudding by picking all the bits out your teeth and if like me, beard afterwards

Bridget Phillipson seems like one impressive lady. It’s weird to hear from MP’s that sound like a human.

Also an aside on proportional representation: Currently- Reform got 4 seats and 4 million votes (14.3%vote share) Greens got 4 seats and 1.9 million votes (6.8% vote share) So you might think PR would be worse and let more far right loons in… but how many people voted tactically this election, rather than voting for the party that best represented their views? I know I was very undecided between Green and Labour because I didn’t want FPTP to keep the Tory incumbent in power. I have to reckon Greens (and the more progressive left generally) would have done much better if we’d had PR this election, so I think I’m still in favour of it. Also lib Dems on 71 seats, 3.5m, 12% Vast majority of those seats will have been tactical votes although I've had the good fortune of actually liking them the best as well as them being the tactical option (and now, quite unexpectedly, actually winning in Maidenhead).

Everyone that wanted to vote for reform ltd did, There is loads of tactical voting on the left so I don't think you could ever get a clear picture of PR without an actual PR vote.

I think a lot of people inherit it off their parents though, so I don't think this country will ever be as progressive or left as say Denmark, despite as much as people on here are willing for the UK to become. You think the vast majority of people are willing to sacrifice more of their income on taxes for better services? I only mention Denmark as I know what it's like over there, there's free childcare, look after the elderly, dentists for children, great healthcare.. but you're sacrificing half your wage. I honestly think the UK is full of self serving people, who rightly or wrongly look after themselves and their families interests over that of other people.

Was listening to Radio Lancashire this morning on the way to work. The single issue Gaza candidate that won Blackburn sounded like Chris Kamara trying to work out who's been sent off when asked what he's going to do now he's got the seat.

Well when ever I’ve visited the area I can see why they vote blue. It’s always totally over run by people off the boats taking all the jobs off all the poor locals. Way too many immigrants stealing jobs and homes there.

Welcome to the UK, where our future prime minister is giving a victory speech next to Elmo. Works for me as an advert for our democracy. Tell me he tried to tickle him?

Must be wild when you get elected as an independent, suddely you have to quit your job and figure out how to actually represent a constituency with no party support, all for maximum of a mere 5 years in the role

wait what's going on Leicester east, con gain? Oh an upset for Labour! I see it as anything but. Starmer, whatever his faults, will be salivating at the prospect of tearing that cunt, who has served in two of the worst periods of Conservative rule a new one. And when I say two, I mean the last one and the one immediately preceding it. I want a no nonsense Labour Party. Just stick to policies and show those fuck with cunts what can be achieved with thought and planning. Last two elections in Wellingborough I have given up my commitment to the Greens and voted Labour. And I will do that again if we see change. Not over night, but gradually and apparent change is enough.

Surprised to see Reform get so many votes in my area. Over 8k and 3rd overall. Exactly the same here. Only 600 or so votes between Labour & Conservative as well. Crazy to think Reform have nearly 40% of the amount of the votes Labour have, but currently only have 4 seats versus 411.
