I just hope if doesn't all go a bit France in the next 4/8 years.
Still, today was a good day.
I'm not even that bothered that Hunt kept his seat, it will allow broadcasters to keep getting his name wrong for the next few years at least.

So the frog-faced fascist won a seat on his eighth attempt; some key Tories (Badenoch, Braverman, Cleverly, Sunak, Hunt, etc.) retained theirs; Corbyn won, as did Anderson; and Reform got a surprising number of votes overall.
Not a perfect night, then... but even so, a win's a win.

I turned on to see the candidates waiting for Truss to lose her seat in Norfolk. The Brit Communist woman looked like she wanted to slap her.
Anyway, happy days and pleased locally we’ve got a Labour MP after decades of Tories. We actually met him when he was canvassing, seemed a good solid choice. Really happy

Must be wild when you get elected as an independent, suddely you have to quit your job and figure out how to actually represent a constituency with no party support, all for maximum of a mere 5 years in the role Parliament helps set stuff up to a degree. Buy yeah, it'll be interesting to see how many try and do it properly and actually get involved.

I must say, seeing Truss slow clapped onto the stage followed by her haunted 'I can't believe I lost my seat' look was a great video to wake up to.

There was a 70% turnout in my constituency. Well played, neighbours.

If the whole thing was just a ruse for Rees Mogg to lose his seat then its been worth it. Grove losing would have topped that for me but the weasel jumped before he was pushed.
My constituency Moray was one of the few SNP holds, only by 1000 votes from the Tories...Fucking rich old people up here
I did my bit at least
Even after the ineptitude during covid, filling their pockets via PPT contracts, draconian civil rights laws, persecution of the less well off, shit on our beaches, fucking Boris and everything else, they still got *130 odd seats. Fucking Stockholm syndrome.
Come on Starmer, PLEASE be a revelation, the country needs it.
*119, my bad, 119 too many

Sadly, he retained his seat. Although if he didn't, Reform would have gained it. So the lesser of two evils. Maybe.

Well I wake up in a Tory constituency with one of the worst MPs in the country, and despite all the carnage and a tidy majority for Labour I feel pretty down. As someone said a few pages back, this isn’t the catharsis I had hoped for, and it doesn’t compare with the elation of 1997. Too many people in this country vote for cunts, too many people in this country are cunts, and the past 14 years still happened. OK I’m beginning to talk myself round. 120ish seats is too poor a result to recover from in one term, especially against a competent and professional government, which Labour will be. Also, the Tories will lurch right before they correct themselves back, and that will hurt them further because that space is taken. Reform can't progress beyond 4 seats under FPTP. People are naturally focusing on Reform's large share of the vote. But the UK still has a progressive majority. If we had PR, the Tories plus Reform could not form a government; Labour plus Lib Dems plus Greens could, comfortably. I'm feeling happier than I did an hour ago.

Fucking Stockholm syndrome. Currently on 119 with 5 left to declare, which is basically their lowest ever. So not too bad.

"Tories wiped out with Liz Truss, Penny Mordaunt, Jacob Rees-Mogg, Grant Shapps among senior Conservatives to lose seats" Now that's the kind of news I like to wake up to! Shame they weren't totally decimated, and a bigger shame that Reform are making gains. I'll take a win when I get one, though! Happy Friday everybody! Honestly, I felt a wave of disappointment when the Exit Poll landed and the Tories had more than 100 seats. I was out with friends and I think they were baffled by my reaction. I think your post sums it up though. The most positive political event to happen to the UK for fucking ages. A time to celebrate and to let go of the gnawing negativity at the back of my brain. Gunna enjoy today watching all the faff. Mildly tempted to go down to Westminster but not sure what there is to see beside a few blacked out Jags go in and out.

Fuck, Richard Holden managed to hold the 'safe' Tory seat he was parachuted into by 20 votes, the jammy twat.
