It will just be nice if we could have a term with adults who dont get involved in scandal to look at things objectively and improve things a bit for people. I know that's a low bar but it's a start.

Danno meh - no government can be beholden to a previous government and all that. I imagine there will be small, incremental moves to be closer to Europe over the next decade and then at some point after, SM/CU membership will be on the table and no-one will care what was said years ago. That's all predicated on a good run mind you and no scandals that bring them down. Quite a big IF really. Exactly. And, as I said before, Starmer will be in his 70s in a decade's time and it is doubtful he will be there by the time any kind of rejoin or SM/CU membership is on the table. It is irrelevant what he says about a rejoining timeframe publicly. The best we can hope for on that front from his government is repairing the relationships and making us aligned where possible. That is pretty much what they have said they will do.

Nice to see the weather playing ball for election day, rain likely tomorrow though so hopefully the new Prime Minister will have a brolly.

Just seen this in politico's playbook email. If Sunak loses his seat, which is looking possible, he'll be the first incumbent PM to lose his seat in a GE ever in the history of everything. That would be nice. Though I'm still worried that it seems to be mainly the most awful ones who are in the secure seats. As Chopsen says, the Tories will be back after a few years in the wilderness. I've never really liked them, but I'd rather they don't come back totally staffed by Suella/Kemi/etc...

Tory internal polling has them on 80 seats, there really isn't many "safe" seats left for them. My own constituency likely flipping just seems incredible, it was as safe as houses (not new builds), it's the only explanation for Gerald Howarth being re-elected so often.

They are going to have to re-work the benches if a worst case scenario happens. Won't be room on the left hand side 😂

His Wikipedia page will make DCFCs 07/08 Records look like Real Madrid. He’s going to be a pub quiz question for the rest of time.

Down here in Worthing it's looking like we'll have our first ever Labour MPs (and first ever non-Tory) in both constituencies. It's been Tory since the first Worthing seat was created in 1945 after splitting from Horsham, and then 2 x Tory since when the seat was split in two in 1997.
Absolutely mad to see the turn around in this town over the past 5 years or so, it's been as blue as they come for all of my life. Our current Tory MP, Sir Peter Bottomley, has been in the seat since 1997. The Tory before him, The Right Honourable Lord Higgins (yes, seriously) was Worthing MP from 1964 - 1997. Now, it looks like we'll have a nice guy in his 20s called Tom, and a young Mum called Beccy. How's that for summing up a monumental changing of the guard across the country!

Our tactical voting has it on a knife edge between the tories on like 32% and the Lib Dem’s on 31%. It’s an incredibly safe seat so if the Lib Dem’s do flip it, that is an absolute disaster. They will have truly lost the middle class ‘I’m alright, fuck everyone else’ market.

Voted. Come on you lot, get off your arse. I don’t think we are a crowd that needs prompting to vote tbh.

Similar here. Neck and neck between the Tories and Lib Dems. Labour aren’t far behind which is frustrating because they’re splitting the non-Tory vote. They have, however, been focussing on a neighbouring seat over this one, while Sir Ed has paid us a visit twice during the campaign along with a blanket of leaflets through our door - so I’m quietly confident the extra effort to take this area will pay off.

Done... Labour nearly managed to lose my vote with the EU comments yesterday, but went for them in the end begrudgingly.
It's not a tactical seat, but some polls show a 1% difference between CON and LAB, so I'd be kicking myself if it does end up being that close and I'd voted for someone else.

I'm in a tactical seat and here's the confusing polling I'm looking at as Labour, tories and Lib Dems are all in play. The more reliable polls say lib dems but each one says conservatives 2nd place with either Labour or Lib Dems 1st, which maybe just reflects how close it is here. Tactical.vote have withdrawn any recommendation, probably because of that. Stopthetories have this So I guess I'll go with lib dems, just hope it plays out that way.

Yup, ours Southern seat has always been Tory or Libs in my voting lifetime, to be fair MP Caroline Nokes is the kind you wouldn't mind if they survive the cull but she's still true blue so not getting my vote. Alternatively if only the Nutters survive then the recovery will be longer.
I cant see them bouncing back in 4 years but then I couldn't see Labour recovering so quickly after 2019 either.

Drink every time you hear "They are all the same" today.
I've never seen it not be shorthand for "I want to be as openly racist and as humanly possible and want horrible things to continue to happen to the less well off, but I wish things weren't quite so shit for me"
and yeah, Reform being thrown out a lot on my social media, which is unsurprising for my area. More tantrum votes than tactical votes though.

Lots of Reform voting talk at my work today. I was pleasantly surprised to find that my direct team were all either Lab or Lib Dem voters, as we typically try to steer away from politics chat and I'd much rather just not know if they're a Tory/Reform fuckhead. Although there is that one guy who kept suspiciously quiet...

In all fairness there's no Conversative candidate in my area and I'm fairly certain Labour will still hold (they have for 60+ years).
Still shit to hear.

We’re in a new constituency that’s been shaved off of the one embarrassing blue enclave around Leeds. Thankfully it appears to be heading Labours way if polls are to be believed. So that’s good.

The boundary change where I live has lumped my village into what was a Labour win in 2019 but the Tory incumbent from my previous constituency has come across with us. It was slightly annoying when he got in last time and loads of people on the left from outside the area started questioning how Labour could possibly have lost a place like Blythe. The town is called Blyth.

Voting done, hopefully tomorrow my town has its first ever non-Tory and first female MP.
Shame the local cricket club that is my polling station didn't have the bar open, it's quite warm out there and a cold one would have been nice.

Voted this morning. I’m in a Tory/Lib Dem marginal so handed my vote to the Lib Dem’s. To be fair Andrew George has always been a good MP /campaigner down here and have no issues voting for him and the party. Think they have had a pretty decent campaign. Be nice if they became the opposition, it go a long way to reframing politics in this country and freeing it from the Tory/client journalists/tory papers that have dragged this country through mounds of shit.
My Twitter feed has gone nuts though. Full of bots/insane takes. It’s deranged.
