Anybody received their postal vote yet? Got mine last week. I think they sent a pre-letter that we’d to get in touch if we hadn’t received it by today (26/6), so I’d contact them.

Couldn't be arsed with another debate tonight, but judging by what little I've read and some of the reactions, shouting over someone, lying repeatedly and generally being a bit of a cunt is how you win at debates. Is that what they teach at the Winchester Debating Society?

Not really. Bookies have got Farage as a shoe-in to win it (1/7) with Labour a distant third place (15/2), just behind the Conservatives (7/1). Looks like a case of using resources wisely. Fractional odds explainer: 1/7 = 87.5% probability of happening 7/1 = 12.5% 15/2 = 11.76%

Not splitting the anti Farage vote in an unwinnable (if that's a even a thing for Labour currently) seat?

Fair point, although local resources are effectively local, so letting the local party campaign there is hardly going to take many resources away from other areas. And offering some kind of alternative to Reform/Tories seems like a good idea.
The odds of Labour winning are tiny, but they still have 25% of the support, which is way bigger than any of the other non-right-wing parties.
I just don't really like the idea of abandoning the entire population to starvation and death Reform/Cons

Sacrifice Clacton to the Tories as a long shot to save the U.K. and PMQs from 5 years of Farage.
Sorry Clacton, you’re going to have to take one for the team.

The only reason anyone knew of Jovan at all was because of the circus around farage, putting up a “fight” in a seat you’ll never win does nothing but generate more press for reform

The school is taking year 6 to Clacton, as a treat, next week. I’m pretty sure Haringey Council plan on using it as a “that’s what happens when you don’t vote Labour” learning opportunity

We considered breaking up a long drive by staying an extra night somewhere along that coast last weekend.
"We could stay in Southend... Or maybe Clacton... Actually, let's just do the long drive."

My uni girlfriend was from Harwich (actually Dovercourt dahhling) so I’ve spent a fair chunk of time up that way. There’s some stunning coastline, lovely villages, and Clacton. And Jaywick, which is proper neglected

Honestly sometimes I think democracy is such a bloody stupid idea.
I've been feeling particularly depressed by the number of comments I've seen from people saying that a Labour government won't be any better, and that they're all as bad as each other. I mean how cynical and defeatist do you have to be to think that every person motivated to engage in politics is as miserably incompetent and malicious as Johnson or Truss? People want the moon on a stick.
As John Oliver('s team of writers) said, when a badger has been fucking up your living room for 14 years, you can worry about redecorating later: you just want the badger fucking gone.

As I've said many times, you could run around any town centre in the country with a butterfly net and grab a bunch of random people who could do a better job than the useless shitheads we have in charge now.
Its literally impossible for them to be 'just as bad'. And I mean literally literally.

Exactly. One of my better twitter bangers was the time I said that I could chuck a courgette over my shoulder in Sainsburys and hit someone or something who would make a better PM than Johnson. It's true, even if it hit the yoghurt.

The fundamental difference in a random sample is that you would get at least a few people who would govern in the interest of the people and not out of venal self interest.

Maybe we should do it like Jury Selection.
Isn't that how the ancient greeks or someone used to do it? OG Democracy.
