Anybody received their postal vote yet? Maybe should give your council a bell, the number is on the postal vote notification card that you should have got before the vote itself.
Seems like most people got theirs last week.

Anybody received their postal vote yet? Haven't received mine, so emailed the council this morning. They've advised they've all been sent out and the last day to ask for ask for a replacement is tomorrow.

Current edition of Private Eye, page 12 I apologise. I thought you might have seen this on the internet, and was going to share it with the wider world with a view to kicking the twitching corpse of the conservative party. I acknowledge and salute the deployment of the equivalent of the LMGTFY gambit.

was just about to post that, excellent news, very hard to argue against
the people not registered tend to be those who haven't lived in the same house for 20 years, those with fractionally more chaotic lives, like young people, tenants, students - ie people who've been badly let down by this (and previous, but particularly this) government
edit: and yeah sign me up for compulsory voting too. Nothing stopping people ticking "none of the above" or spoiling their paper, but it puts a duty on the state to put a voting slip in every person's hand.

New MRP, spoiler : the Tories are fucked. Hopefully the people of Surrey Heath work a bit more tactically, Michael Gove may not be fighting it but his old seat should flip with a bit of co-operation. Haven't gone around checking the big names but had to see if Jeremy Hunt would be looking for alternative work, according to this, yeah he's doing a Portillo. wethink.report/news-hub/news/we-think-mrp-historical-low-for-the-conservatives/

Royal Mail has been struggling in this area for a long time to staff the routes.

How does automatic registration and compulsory voting happen without ID cards though? (To be clear, I think ID cards are a great idea, at least they are in countries with minimally sensible government, so OK not the UK, not yet anyway)

Another MRP, that is even worse for the Tories, relegating them to third place www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/bombshell-mega-poll-tory-wipeout-33113155Glorious as this might be, I think it is very unlikely to come to pass. It would also mean 18 seats for Reform, which I highly doubt. Edit - they also have Islington North going independent, presumably Corbyn, which is against much of the other polling we have seen from there.

Knowing otto would be interested in this one's Beaconsfield result I had a laugh when I saw they'd done a search and replace or similar on the list and fucked up in the article.

i suppose we're at a point where the difference between conservatives getting 80 seats and reform getting 8 OR vice versa is not far off the margin of error
or alternative scenario - how many labour MPs will need to immediately defect to the lib-dems for giggles to ensure tories aren't even official opposition

The polls are also suggesting more undecideds than usual at this stage. But I reckon that just means that ex Tory voters haven't decided who to vote for instead. The only potential but still unlikely outcome that hurts labours majority is voters returning to The Tory fold.
