It's a clear case of fraud, he should lose his liberty as well.

Come on now, it's obviously all a big misunderstanding - the poor chap heard there were party funds available and is now in trouble for using them to fund his parties - I mean, they should have named them something else to avoid this confusion.

From the BBC
"The sum was reportedly paid later that morning, by which time it had risen to £6,500, from the personal savings of Mr Menzies' office manager, who was reimbursed from campaign donations, the paper said.
A source close to Mr Menzies told the Times he paid the money because he was scared of what would happen if he refused, but didn't have enough in his own savings."
Now I thought they expected the public to retain 3 months salary as savings.

My 10 plate (Octavia VRS Estate) isn't ULEZ compliant .... A car in London is a luxury you rarely need, and I had thought about getting rid and just using Ubers for the kids, but then I do use it 3 or 4 times a year for a London-Northumberland round trip, maybe a couple of festivals and a trip to the Lakes, plus some trips to the south coast.... When it comes to potential London mayors, ULEZ isn't part of the decision process though. If it was, I wouldn't have anyone to vote for though, as all of those saying to scrap it have awful (or no real) policies in general. You'd be cheaper renting a car for a couple trips a year. That's the approach we are taking. Cycling and public transport for almost everything, then , Ubers and rental cars for other trips. I mean, getting a minicab to the airport is pretty much the same price as parking on location. It's more like 10 trips, half 4 or 5 days, and some a couple of weeks - I did look at renting / Uber combination but it worked out quite a bit more, and a lot less convenient. If the insurance prices keep rising (along with diesel surcharges) that will be re-evaluated though. Inevitably i'll need to replace it at some point though, and hopefully electric will be a more viable choice then too. Anyway, long way of saying ULEZ impacts me as do other diesel charges, but I still support it and really don't think it's the winning platform these candidates think it is.

Now, given he borrowed/embezzled a lot more from the state than Angela Rayner apparently didn't pay CGT for, so what will Rishi do about this?
Bunch of fucking clowns.
Corrupt clowns at that.

I'm assuming every mouthpiece on the rounds this morning are now pivoting to 'we should let the investigation run its course and let the matter drop'

It's obviously all a mistake. I think he was just spending the money on trying to book flights to get the "bad people" deported.

Makes me nostalgic for the Tory sleaze from the nineties, that was mostly MPs shagging someone that wasn't their wife and taking envelopes with cash stuffed in them to ask questions in Parliament. Could have done without the mocked up picture of David Mellor in full Chelsea kit though.

This is the same Tory MP Mark Menzies who was once quizzed by police over claims he got a dog drunk. Er what.

So... he urgently needed £5,000 in the middle of the night to pay the 'bad people'... which had risen to £6,500 by morning...
