Wasn't there a report recently that said LTNs saved the NHS billions because they improved the health of the people who lived in them, because they walked and cycled more? I guess I'm used to living in Tokyo where I haven't had a car for over a decade, and we just walk, cycle or train everywhere. It's great, except in snow or typhoons. I live in zone 2 Islington and yeah have never owned a car or driven in London. People who insist they need the ability here just seem like cunts and all own SUVs. I'd somehow respect it more if they all had battered small hatchbacks.

A huge volume of the morning traffic is people doing school drop off by car, to private schools. In the weeks that they are holiday, but the state schools are not, there is a noticeable drop off in traffic!
And they are often fairly large vehicles...

I detour out of our estate on more or less the opposite side if I have to leave at school dropping off or picking up time. It closes off about three roads, it’s absolutely ridiculous.

It's utterly hilarious that the Tories think it's possible Susan "Stolen Wallet" Hall can win in London and that's the sort of boost Sunak can profit from. Fucking delusional.

They are just spiralling round the drain hoping this white elephant of a flight to Rwanda somehow plugs in the hole, not realising they're actually past the plughole and round the u-bend at this point.

You have to be pretty desperate when your game plan relies on Susan Hall.

Don't worry getting that guy on a flight to Rwanda will definitely help out those people struggling to pay their rent/mortgage.

So essentially their policy to keep Sunak around till Autumn is essentially RACISM?

It's the equivalent of nicking stationary from the office when you're about to leave your current job.
Got to get in all those free helicopter rides while you can.

I do wonder how much the knowledge that he will never be able to match up to his in-laws plays on Sunak's mind. The helicopter flights in particular just really seem like he's absolutely desperate to project an air of success and prestige.

The odds of an ancient RAF helicopter not having a mechanical failure and crashing on the way to the shops seem a bit too high for me.

There is a definite whiff of 'look at me daddy-in-law, I'm successful too.' I think there definitely is, he wants to be seen as successful and not just rich. But how is that going to look when he looses the election. If it's as bad for the tories as expected, he's going to be the man in charge when they suffer an absolute obliteration and his name will always be associated with that. I can't fathom how anyone can be so deluded. Does he really not see what is coming? And if he does, why is he still there, and why did he want the job in the first place? Maddening.

I get why Sunak wanted to be Prime Minister, first brown one amongst all the other ambitions a politician might have but I don't understand how incompetent he is at it and how he's progressively getting worse at it and he hasn't realised.
He must have some really good yes men around him.

Even if the next general election leads to a complete collapse of the Tory party and the end of it entirely, the history books will likely record the blame as mostly down to Liz Truss and, more broadly, the Brexit squabbles (her place in the records is already set by being the shortest surviving PM - unless they actually do replace Sunak before a GE). Sunak has just carried on the trajectory that was already set and just been generally a bit shit.

He's just very, very, very, very, very bad at politics. Money can buy you some level of success but it leaves you very naked when you finally do get to the top. I mean, literally his first week on the job he revealed himself to be an absolute pussy half a dozen times and continued to make deals with people who went on to stab him in the back to this day. He was just a continuation truss, absolutely fucking useless and has the respect of literally nobody. His party clearly all think he's a cunt and the rest of the country barely register he is even alive.
