EFootball or Pro Evo to everyone else

Admittedly I watched on my phone, and to a large degree, PES often needs to be played. Still can't see it being much if a success though...

Nah it'll die on its arse. Still looks better than I was expecting though.

I think the last one I bought was 2008 with Michael Owen on the cover. It wasn't great.

Pro Evo 2 was my first, unless we're counting ISS64, but I remember it being bastard hard. Pro Evo 3 and 4 were uni mainstays.

Was one of them carrying a toaster?

I still hope it might actually play a really good game of football which will be the most important thing. I've bounced of every FIFA for a while because every cpu team plays the same in career and every game feels the same. Pes has at least felt like each match has its own story.

Mostly only play Myclub for last few years because it let's me and two mates play online together and the 3v3 is the best football experience available.

I play a LOT of FIFA. Like, a LOT. The last 3 or 4 year I think we've clocked over 1,000 games each year in coop seasons alone. It has quite the hold over me because of the 2 player online seasons. It's a great mode which my friend and I hold quite dear.

FIFA is a BASTARD. When it plays well it really is loads of fun, but it's also so easy to see behind the curtain. The dynamic difficulty stuff that they say doesn't exist is so obvious it hurts. What makes that worse is the fact that once you start thinking about it fucking you, you then start to realise that it's probably been helping you in the matches that you were doing really well in.

2 examples from September.

1) We're trying to reach Div 1. We're 4 games unbeaten in Div 2. We need another couple of wins to progress. To our shock we draw the next 1 and lose the next 3. This happens three seasons in a row. Looking at the teams we played, they were no better than we'd been beating (statistically speaking).

2) We played the same pair 3 times in a row using the same teams. We won 4-1, 3-0, then lost 5-0. In the 3rd match none of our passes were landing. Our shots were all being saved or miraculously blocked by defenders. Our keeper let every shot in.

It's a surprise that we've not been seeking therapy over this madness. If EA insist on fudging games like this, all it would take would for them to be upfront about it! Do what PES used to do and have form/morale indicators when you're picking your match day squad. If that forces us to pick people off the bench then great, at least we know up front.

I'd play it if they gave us the 2v2 leagues. Have they got that in there yet?

I don't know how people play it. It looks awful. Animations are terrible, the ball flies about like a balloon in the wind. The popularity of FIFA is a real mystery to me, it's always been shite. It's like a constant of the universe.

Even the trailer for FIFA 22, it's got RVP in it, and he looks like a haunted waxwork. That's the promo material they are using.

FIFA has all the licenses does it not? Much slicker presentation too.

I don't even pretend too understand all this Ultimate Team bollocks and I don't want to. Just want to play a decent game of footie with my mates and that's it. No SP campaign or anything like that.

FIFA 10 and 11 were quite good iirc. But largely haven't got on with it either. The presentation is polished but don't like how it plays at all.
