I'm just pleased that I know what a reference on here means, for once š
Still quite tempted by this but missed it in the recent sale. The platinum version is currently 33% off, but I think I'll wait for the next time around.

I wanted to wait for the Gold Edition to go on sale, because I already owned The Third Remastered, but it seemingly never goes on sale. Only Platinum, and occasionally Standard. Said fuck it and went for it.
One thing I do like about it is that I can actually make a character that reasonably resembles me for once. Only other game Iāve been able to do that it in was Mass Effect Andromeda.
Also while the emote taunts at the start are okay, you can buy (with in-game currency, not microtransactions) Van Dammeās Kickboxer dance and Elaine Benesā thumb dance. So 10/10 GOTY 2022.

Finished everything apart from clearing up some bits and pieces, even the final "mission" that requires saving up $8,000,000 which is a bit of a drag even with businesses piling in cash at maximum rate.
I really enjoyed it, didn't have any serious bugs, just the one crash and one annoying things where I thought I was being clever doing an Insurance Fraud and got myself on to the train, I was racking up fucktons of cash, unfortunately I couldn't get off so had to close the game down as I couldn't even get into the options menu.
It certainly uses the side hustles to pad things out but on the whole I'd place it on a par with the original game and, as I said earlier, second only to the mighty SR2. SR3/4 are entertaining but I just felt it was getting far too out there at times with those two.

Iāve not finished it yet, but have several more hours in now. Itās fun, but Iād say its biggest issue is that it doesnāt do anything new. It plays pretty much exactly like the previous games, just in a new city, with a more logical control scheme.

Saw a physical copy for Ā£25 this morning. Tempting, but I don't want a physical copy, really.
Doubtless it'll be on sale again sometime.

On sale again this morning, so finally bought it. I bought it last week and fucking love it. I don't get the bad reviews. I have had more fun with it than any other open world I can remember recently.

@ryandslurk good to hear.
I've generally had pretty good fun with them previously and I tend to like open world sandboxy stuff, so I'm sure I'll have fun with this one.

I think it launched with some really terrible technical issues that got sorted but it was far too late to rescue it.
A tip I'll give is do the garage side hustle completely first, you get the ability to get cars delivered to you with it done. I left it very late in the game and regretted it.

The benefits of buying stuff on sale, ages after release, I guess. I will check out that garage thing, though. Cheers.

I was prepared to give it a go when it was cheap and patched and that certainly worked out well for me, shame it's sunk the series and Volition but it should have been delayed.

My only real criticism is the sound. It is terrible. The radios are shit, volume is all over the place and you can't hear some stuff.
A pity, otherwise it really nails that early GTA vibe before they dropped all the fun and became boring simulations of life rather than rampage fuelled fun.

The audio levels are pretty odd, even with all the different settings it can be off. It seems more positional that it should, best way to experience it is do one of the history info boards and move the camera so it fills the screen as it plays, the volume jumps up.

So what you're saying is that someone with fucked up hearing like mine isn't going to hear a word of dialogue, then?

I havenāt played the new one, but Iāve been doing another playthrough of 4 again for no particular reason, and itās so fucking good. The most under appreciated game of that generation.

Damn, I saw that coming. Thatās what came to mind when it was announced the reboot was going to PS Plus next month. Like why now, when the studioās about to shut down. Didnāt think they announcement would actually coincide that directly though.

Massive shame this. They've made some great games over the years.

Wow, I knew the latest SR was a bit of a mess (I haven't played it) but I've genuinely enjoyed so much of their output over the years. What a massive shame.

Yeah, just saw this news. That absolutely sucks. I guess Embracer will just sit on the IP and get another team to churn something out waaaay down the line?

Sure the publishers will give the IPs to other studios, giving studios the IP is the best as volition is not the same studio that made SR3 or 4. Saints row reboot was massive mess (and the studio shat on fans saying hatersgonna hate amongst other things) and AoM was very meh

Calling it now, look forward to many other Embracer Group studios also being closed down. They've proven themselves to be just as greedy and short sighted as the rest of them.

As others have said, no real surprise but no less sad as a result.
All this because Embracer were too ambitious, relied upon a $2bn deal with one of the shittiest regimes on the planet, and had no backup plan when said deal fell through.
