Yep, several friends and family recommended Shark. I think that’s the trendy one at the moment, but don’t know if they’ve been around long enough to prove themselves.
Hmmm…
And thanks!

I've had a Shark for about 4 years now and I think its great. No problems since I bought it. It picks up loads and its lightweight. Actually, the flexible tube has a hole in it from wear, but it doesn't impact how it works.
I'll check on Which and see what they recommend for you.

Shark are the other brand that come up whenever I ponder chucking out the piece of shit Dyson (never again!). I fell for the hype and bought a Dyson a few years back. Lasted about a year before the cheap plastic broke in multiple places and then the whole thing died after about 18 months. No better than a Henry and ugly as fucking sin. I really don’t get the love for their products - they have some hideous design and - seemingly - shitty QA / vicious value engineering going on. So anything but a Dyson IMO.

I think she’d murderise me for getting another Henry-shaped one, but that does look good, and would be better for our hard floors. Mrs. EMM’s main problem is it getting stuck on corners. Mine is that the separately-bought aero brush thingy (obtained for my more-carpeted previous house) spits stuff all over the place. Thanks!

The Dyson we've got has lasted quite well actually - going on 13 years now I think. It's just heavy, noisy, inefficient and more importantly, shit at actually picking anything up, especially on carpet, as it's not one with a rotating brush. Wife and daughter have long hair - forget it. Bits of fluff? No siree. Luckily we were gifted an Electrolux cordless thing which does hardwood and tiles no worries. It does better than the Dyson on carpet too (as long as the brushes rotate) but useless for stairs or long pile rugs.

jeepers I had the original one when it first came out and it lasted a few years, but it was nothing special. DC-01, or whatever it was called. Thanks!

According to Which, the ones which are sub £200 that they recommend / Best Buy (over £200 its Mielle) are:
AEG X Force VX6-3-CB-P 80% Hoover Telios Extra Pet TX50 Pet 78% Shark Lift-Away Upright Vacuum Cleaner with TruePet NV602UKT 78%
After that its various Shark's
They do have a £260 Dyson (Big Ball Animal 2) at 80%, but Which doesn't tend to look at reliability that much.
Danno really rates Sharks as well I understand.
Looks like I've got the Shark NV340 which isn't a thing any longer

Poor Hoovers. They never get a look in these days. And they're literally called Hoover.

We've got two Dysons, an upright and a portable. The upright works great but is heavy as hell, fills up really quickly and is really noisy.
The portable did work, but 6 years on is fucking useless. Won't pick up anything more than a micron in size.
Fuck buying anything else from that Brexity Twat, tbh.

quitsking I’m honestly tempted by another Miele. Curry’s had the C3 or whatever it is in at a good price the other day. We’ve no furry pets at the moment, but at my previous house with the late Mrs. EMM, we had dogs and cats and it did really well. Can’t really remember why I bought the Henry now! Many thanks for going to the trouble.

For corded Miele is the one that repeatedly comes up as the best. Bagged though.
However I recently went cordless and plumped for the Vax Blade 4 and it's the best buy I've had in a while.

Cheers! I may well be pushing her towards the Miele.
Not literally, of course!

Bagless vacuums we’re one of those novelty “that does sound better in theory” features that are pretty shit in use. A bag of your crud goes in the bin a lot easier than trying to pour the contents of your dyson in the bin without dust floating up and falling everywhere. They were initially promoting it as never losing suction, that turned out to be bullshit. The absolute worst vacuum cleaner in history. His hand dryers are fucking shit too

The answer is always Miele According to Which, their best buy is the Miele Complete C3 Pure Red Powerline 81% (£246). Some of the other Miele's don't actually do so well though which is surprising, but none are poor (lowest is 69%).

I’ve had the same C3 cat and dog for about 8 years, I’ve only changed the filter once or twice and it still wants to pull the carpet off the stairs

Shark are the other brand that come up whenever I ponder chucking out the piece of shit Dyson (never again!). Shark are generally cheaper but just as good as Dyson. I bought a cordless one a couple of years ago on a deal and love it. Only thing to watch though is that they are very powerful, so any stray laces, leads etc will get snaffled in seconds. I've damaged a few a few things due to the suction because my reflexes weren't quick enough

Only downside to bagged Hoover's is having to remember to have some in.

The current C3 Cat and DOg (Blizzard) was released in 2017 and gets a 79% as its apparently poor on laminate flooring. Its down as phenomenal cleaning of carpets and crevices though. Mind you, its £399.
The C3 Silence Ecoline (£232) gets 80% with no major flaws (one less star for pet hair vs the above and two more for laminate).

Those Dyson urinals are rubbish too - only tried one once, never again. Piss literally flies everywhere, no wonder they still had a traditional urinal next to it.

We've had our Miele for over 10 years, cable retraction is goosed but otherwise works perfectly. I'd father eat my own shite than buy anything from that Dyson cunt, the last hoover of theirs we had had was an unergonomic pile of wank anyway.

My Eufy robot vacuum cleaner picks up everything, it's insane how much dust it gets day after day.
