A PS5 showcase event is scheduled next Thurs. Apparently with information from PlayStation studios and industry leading devs.
Curious to see what they'll showcase. I'd love FFXVI or FF7 Remake Pt 2, but I doubt it. Prob showcase Deathloop one more time before it comes out.

Might see early Spiderman 2 footage. Last of Us multiplayer is likely and maybe Gran Turismo 7. Would also be nice to actually see God of War: Ragnarok and possibly a functioning Cyberpunk PS5 build.
Although as always new and unexpected is what I would really like to see.

Although as always new and unexpected is what I would really like to see. Spider-Man 2 hasn't even been officially announced, has it? Naughty Dog have been notoriously quiet about TLOU2 multiplayer. And I don't think Sony's current relationship with CDPR is going to lead to anything there. I think a lot of what you are hoping for there is pie in the sky stuff. Probably best to temper expectations and just take this event as it comes. I know that speculation can be fun, but if you expect too much, you're only setting yourself up for disappointment. Realistically, I'd say they'll focus on Deathloop, Horizon Forbidden West and a bit more of a tease for Gow: Ragnarock. |

Stuck a set of dbrand plates on my ps5 and now it's all nice and black. Looks so much less intrusive in my av setup now.

Appears to be 9 editions of Horizon Forbidden West for sale and interestingly no evidence of a PS5 upgrade from the PS4 version. Hmmm.

Proper meltdown in the comments section over on the other place about Horizon editions.
I guess I’m lucky to have a PS5 already, but I couldn’t really care less about cross gen rights.
It’s the price of the standard edition that’s a killer…
But I loved the original games so I am going to put in a pre-order for the physical Special Edition, since an extra tenner for a steelbook case, mini art book and digital soundtrack seems worth it. Still…. £80.
I’m not sure what else there is coming in 2022, but I’ll be hoping that Horizon and Elden Ring will keep me busy for most of the year…

Sony really can't get this right. They either need to hurry up and drop support for the PS4, or just copy what MS are doing.
It's weird that they allowed it for SM:MM for example so have the capability to do their own janky version of smart delivery, but did a 180 and decided to gouge on version updates instead. I haven't bought the GoT update out of principal and this is putting me off getting Horizon too.

I’m guilty of buying the Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut on PS5, so I guess I’m lending tacit support to Sony’s business model…
But then again I never bought the game on PS4 so it kind of feels like a fair result to buy a next gen GOTY edition with the DLC included.
I think the reality is that I’ll just by far fewer games if prices are this high. I want to play Returnal and Ratchet & Clank but I’m now waiting for them to hit a sub-£40 mark. In the PS3 and PS4 gens, I’m pretty sure I’d have been there day one for both those games.
My stupidly large backlog of games and Gamepass on my Series S mean I’ll never be short of stuff to play.

Despite having a PS5 I am only playing through my backlog at present. There are a few PS5 games I want such as Sackboy, GoTDC, Returnal, R&C and possibly Spiderman MM but they are still way too expensive. Sub £40 and I will likely bite.

I get the argument and annoyance at the Sony cross gen stuff but at the same time I find it really hard to care. It's, what, ten bucks difference on average?

I find the faff more off-putting than the price. Why they couldn't just let me upgrade and preload GoT before it released is still absolutely fucking beyond me. I still haven't bothered buying it yet and it's purely because they made it as awkward as possible and it put me off.

Oh yeah, that's true enough. I spent a few minutes hunting around looking for the Death Stranding upgrade before stumbling across the fine print that went "upgrade only available at launch"

I do think that you should get both PS4 and 5 versions for the one price, and not behind the deluxe version or whatever it is. But as someone with a PS5 I don't particularly care about it.
This is the first new one that they haven't bundled together at launch, and maybe that's the case going forward once the first year is coming to a close. They may now be thinking that if you want a PS5, you should feasibly be able to pick one up much more easily.

It’s easier than at launch, and should continue to be so. I’ve bought 3, the last one about 5 months ago.
There’s definitely still a shortage of course, and until stores are stocked regularly it’s going to be harder than it needs to be. Your case seems to have been particularly difficult.
It was speculation though.

RT + performance IIRC. The best of both worlds...
I went with performance at launch as the combo mode wasn't an option then and it still looked lovely.

Just seen the weekend sale. If I want to play Spiderman on my PS5 with 60fps RT etc which version do I need to buy? Can I just get the PS4 version and that patches itself up?

Miles Morales should be a case of buy the PS4 version and you get the PS5 still I believe.
Remastered original game you need to purchase digitally within the PS5 version of MM, or buy the ultimate edition of MM.

Yep, Performance RT really is the best of both worlds. Amazing they've managed to pretty much crack it already at the start of the gen.

Assuming the remaster is a different save to the original? I was hoping to do NG+ or something but it’s not recognising the old PS4 save locally or from the cloud.

Yup. Luckily it worked for me, as my son platinumed it on PS4 on my profile so I was able to start from scratch on the PS5
