Most of the games in that video were ps4 games or launch titles. Way to sell the extortionate pointless console guys.

So uhhh they're saying that the disc drive is gonna be another £100-120 on top? So close to £800. Yeh I'm not touching it until someone's thoroughly tested it. I opt for performance mode every time and things like a blurry/jagged object in the background means fuck all to me. So if that's all the Pro is offering, for that price, I ain't interested.

Also if you're in euros that price is more insane. Looking at 920 euros all in to play games you already own but a bit better.

Hang on, best part of £850 for the console, UHD drive and the pretty essential IMO cheap plastic stand.
Then a pretty meagre list of 12 or so legacy titles that will get a Pro patch. List doesn't include Astrobot, their biggest first party launch in the latter half of this year.
Advertising a "boost mode" for (some) last gen games, a feature im pretty sure PS5 already has....as does the £225 Series S.
Get. To. Fuck who thought this was a good idea?!?
Roll on Switch 2 reveal.

That exchange rate is quite something. Using the Playstation stars exchange rate. You are not a true Playstationer if you hesitate to pay

This can fuck right off.
However I absolutely do not predict the same damp squib, poor sales outcome everyone else does. Unfortunately I think the robbing bastards will sell millions

Do you think there's still time to change the price or is this fingers in ears territory?

Before us Xbox fans laugh too much at the price, that's probably what the next xbox is going to cost as well.

Is it even worth the risk for scalpers. Not sure demand is going to be high enough.

What’s a decent gaming PC cost these days? Feels like that’s becoming the more sensible route to go, unless those prices have ballooned since I last looked a few years back. They have ballooned. Nvidia massively increased prices on their cards for the 40 series. AMD GPUs are expensive, but cheaper (you also miss out on the bells and whistles like ray tracing and good quality upscaling). Processors aren't too bad, but motherboards are pretty expensive. Only saving grace is that RAM and storage are still pretty cheap. If you are looking at a solid build, you can probably do it for about the price of the PS5 Pro, but it would likely be getting you 1440p. For 4k, you are looking at a grand. PC of course has the added benefit of doing more than games, so is probably the better investment (which I wouldn't say compared to a PS5 or Xbox Series X/S).

£700 for a mid gen refresh is fairly bollocks

Just saw the YouTube video. Using last of us part 2 comparison didn't really sell it to me to spend 800 quid. I mean I own most of those games and they already look excellent I honestly couldn't tell the difference from that footage. Only one was that Dragon's Dogma 2 looked 60fps. Good to know they've spent that time working on that rather than getting the base consoles up to speed.

Does it come with an exciting jet engine fan noise boost like my PS4 Pro did?

PS5/Xbox whatever we're on is the first generation of consoles I ever missed. And looks like it's going to stay that way -_-
Just not enough exclusives or generational leaps in performance to justify them anymore. There are a couple of PS exclusives I'd like to play, but mostly can just wait for them to arrive on Steam. Or, they're reheats of PS4 games.

If you're charging that much you've got to bring a little more than a resolution bump, especially when I'm not sure most can even tell a meaningful difference between 1440p and 4k at distance anyway. It's all good for online arguments but are most consumers that bothered?

PS5/Xbox whatever we're on is the first generation of consoles I ever missed. And looks like it's going to stay that way -_- Yeah to be honest it’s the first time I have felt I don’t really need thjs console - and that’s from someone who has been primarily a PS gamer thought the many years. Some smashing games (Returnal, GT7 in PSVR2) but with development time and costs they too far and in between and there’s not been much that has wowed me. When you look at games like Red Dead 2, and Ghost of Tsumisha sometimes the ps5 feels like overkill. Honestly think the Series S was a good idea but… yeah. Raises the question of what next gen consoles will cost. With this, and current models of both the SX and PS5 going up I don’t think it’s going to be pretty. And then there’s the games.. which are becoming too and far in between, I actually wonder how the gaming landscape will be in with the next gen consoles. Honestly I prefer if they tone it down a bit and go backwards. Havn’t seen much that warrants a PS5/XS let alone a pro. Do a Switch guys!

The price reflects the clientele. The new lines across the PS5 are for snorting coke off of.

I went from a PS3 to a PS4 Pro and have yet to buy a PS5 as I was in no rush and thought that the PS5 pro would be a better step up from a PS4 pro. That price WITHOUT a disc drive is giving me a massive pause. The buggers.

Well, don't I look like a complete fool. I'd seen the rumours that the Pro didn't come with a drive so, to beat the (supposed) rush, I grabbed a drive recently to absorb the upgrade cost in advance - I could always return it or flip it if the rumours turned out be false. "Clever move", I told myself.
We'd been looking at getting a second PS5 for the back room so this seemed like a great plan. Pro goes in the living room, launch machine gets moved. No brainer.
HOWEVER.
I was not anticipating the fucking thing to cost SEVEN HUNDRED POUNDS. Without a drive. Or a stand. They're absolutely out of their minds.
So it looks like I'm going for Plan B:
By a digital Slim during Black Friday, stick the drive on it and in the back room it goes.

This also explains why they sneakily upped the price of the controllers recently.
