Vertical stand sold separately. Milk that shit. Forgot about that, so with the disc drive and stand that's another what, £130? So best part of £850 for a console with the basics you'd expect?

Dread to think what the next consoles from Sony and MS will cost.

I'm likely to watch the video, want one, then realise I really don't need one. Increased storage would be a bonus, but I already added in an extra M2. I have a few discs, so lack of a drive would be a step back. A little extra graphical horsepower is always welcome, but I struggle to notice the difference between performance and visual modes most of the time when actually playing. Watched the video, don't want one. Certainly not at that price! The reflections in GT7 look nice, but I'm never going to notice them when actually driving. When playing, I really don't notice the visual difference in Spiderman 2 between modes. Double the price for a 50% (at best) boost in graphics but still the same CPU - so the same gaming experience - is a very tough sell.

Cynically, I might have joked before that the Pro would be aimed at the “more money than sense” brigade, but now I’m certain of it.

£700 without a drive? Nope... Hang on...there's no drive too?! Fucking hell, so we're looking at just shy of 800 quid then all told then? You'd just get a pc then. That's err super misjudged. So who's getting then one then?

Nintendo literally rubbing their hands together right now. They literally just have to drop a two-minute video next week saying "Switch 2 at so-and-so date, £350" and they're probably getting sales on that alone

What’s a decent gaming PC cost these days? Feels like that’s becoming the more sensible route to go, unless those prices have ballooned since I last looked a few years back.

That is why it is essential for Microsoft not to leave the console hardware space. When Sony gets complacent, they get cocky and greedy. Remember back in the day, when Ken Kutaragi had this to say about Sony's goal for the PS3: "For consumers to think to themselves 'I will work more hours to buy one'. We want people to feel that they want it, irrespective of anything else."?
That's what you get. Too bad Microsoft seemingly lacks any competence in steering their studios the right course...

I always said that the consoles we have now are very fit for purpose and there wasn't really a solid user case for this to exist. That asking price just proves it.

Can't see the point of the pro, especially at that price. Christ would it be asking to much if they actually released some games, you know the kind that pushes the current hardware? Fuck me.

Jim Sterling once released a video entitled, 'The PS4's Farted on Its Own Balls.'
At that price, with no disc drive and even the stand being sold separately, I think the PS5 Pro has just followed suit.

Can't see devs putting that much effort into what will likely be a relatively small user base at that price. Not sure if I'd even want to pay that as my first PS5, especially without a disc drive or stand or anything. The difference in performance over the original would have to be significant
It's mid gen as well, so you'll be buying a PS6 not too far into the future

Like the shiny new PS5 version of Minecraft. I know feature wise it brings the PS5 version up to par with the Series X (4K60) with no improvements beyond that but I'm surprised that no one has been shouting about the fact that it's native while the Series version is still running via backward compatibility.
