I read "free-to-play" and come to expect "live service/multiplayer game"; hopefully I'm in the wrong...

Have to hand it to the brass balls on them for opening the show with a near 5 minute cinematic for a live service game that'll likely be dead by Christmas*.
The rest was so so. Enjoyed playing through Astros Playroom with my son and I imagine we'll do the same with Astro Bot.
*It'll be a success now I've said that.

Thought that was a better trailer for SH2. I’m still cautiously optimistic. At least there’s now a release date. I thought it looked off. It just looks pretty clunky when they showed combat. I'm not convinced it's going to be up to snuff.

Also lol at GoW Ragnarok requiring a PSN account for a single player game. Why are Sony being so weird about this? It'll be for the overlay the same way it is for GoT, you'll probably be able to not use it.

But it doesn't make any sense when previous single player games didn't have this forced login restriction which also limits where the game can legally be bought. It really comes across that they don't know what they're fucking doing.

Hmmm. The majority of what they showed looked like more of the same shit in a different skin to me.
Underwhelmed/10

Astrobot was the only thing in that show that interests me. Everything else was meh, seen it before.

Ms would get absolutely panned for a showing like that.
Still, more astrobot should be fun. And monster hunter is a good time until I fall off the end game.

Concorde really doesn’t look like it will land as they hope.
Monster Hunter and Astrobot were the big hitters. No doubt both will be excellent. I’m in for Alien VR and potentially the other one too.
I do t think there was anything else for me but I’m fine with four more games

Almost kind of glad there was barely anything of interest, I've got plenty in my backlog to focus on.

Astrobot and Monster Hunter looked ace. Where the Winds Meet and Ballard of Antara looked interesting (although, the latter being free to play makes me assume it will be shit). Both the PSVR2 games looked really good. Silent Hill 2 was still not great looking, but definitely a better showing than the last time. I never actually played the original, so I'm hoping this turns out good and is an easy way to play the game.
Not a bad selection there, for me. Biggest disappointment was Concord constantly making me think "this world and group of characters would be fun in a single player game". The game itself looked fine, but like numerous other games. I suspect it is something I will never play.
Nothing really, really exciting (Astrobot is close), but an ok selection of stuff.

Same as everyone else for me. Astrobot looks cute and fun and everything else either underwhelmed or didn’t look like me sort of thing.
Although I do have a 34 game pile shame I’m trying to commit to finishing before investing in anything major so that might be good for me.

I tend to just play retro stuff on the switch these days and haven't even switched on my Fifa box (PS5) for ages, but I will get Astrobot and then not play it, like I have done with the last few Mario games.
I really need to pull my finger out and commit blocks of time to gaming. I did it the other week for Animal Well and really enjoyed it. Life is just getting in the way too much.

I really need to pull my finger out and commit blocks of time to gaming. I did it the other week for Animal Well and really enjoyed it. Life is just getting in the way too much. I find there are only a handful of games that make you carve that time out though. Perhaps I'm fussier now I'm older, or I've simply played too many, but it's only the odd game that grabs me now. Animal Well was one, now it's the System Shock remake. No real surprise that it's games that are obtuse, a bit creepy and just leave you to figure shit out on your own. The over simplification of gaming is alienating me. Shove your objective markers and constant notifications up your arse.
There was nothing in this showcase that appealed to me at all apart from Silent Hill 2 (which is a whole other conversation). The Alien one looks awesome but as I don't ever intend buying VR, it's not for me. The rest just passed over me and made no impression at all. Thought both souls-like things, if that's what they are, looked nearly identical and I've had enough of souls-likes to last a lifetime.

Am confused - was this the Sony “non E3” presser? Or is that yet to come?

One thing I rather liked about Behemoth was it looked very Dark Messiah of Might & Magic, which is a very good thing, it even has spike wall things to chuck people at, hopefully there's a kick button as well, shame VR can't detect you kicking your furniture when trying to yeet people off cliffs.

I think Sony are down as a partner for Geoff Keighley's Masturbatory Extravaganza, but I doubt they'll have much of a presence there.
In real terms, as Jambo says, this was their "non-E3" event.

I thought that. My unplayed Steam list is probably close to 4 figures. I need to stop buying any except GoTYs.

I've gone mental over the last 12 months. Buying shit left right and centre. I've got so many games I'll never play it's ridiculous. And yet, still I keep buying them. Playing the handful that actually grab me. I get too excited

Playing the handful that actually grab me. I get too excited I know exactly what you mean. I see something cool, whether it's a game or whatever, and I have to have it. Lately I've set a rule of leaving it for a week and if I'm still excited about it, then I might get it.

I'm the same, only I leave it for an hour. Not a week. Then I set it to install from work and never play it.

In my case there's even the possibility I actually forget about it in a week, so job well done! Of course, I also could forget the rule altogether, so... what was I saying?
