Not only that but you bought "season 3" and they've decided they won't let you "watch" it. Once they started vaulting stuff is when I gave up giving them any money. Did they ever give a legitimate reason for why they were vaulting paid content? Only that it was bloating up their system/world and maintaining it was not feasible; obviously paraphrasing here, but you get the gist

If only there was a way to keep old content available, keep making new content in a fresh, properly balanced format and stop alienating returning players (and Thanos-snapping paid expansions) while keeping current players and possibly even attracting new ones (that might even grab the older games to get the background)... Like making a Destiny 3 finally? Nah, that'd never happen, the roadmap is too important. (I'm snarking, but as someone that dropped Destiny 2 a while back even as they were adding weapons and classes would theoretically have liked, I'd be much more likely to jump fresh onto a Destiny 3 than try and figure out what's still there in 2... Not that I would assuredly play a 3, but some chance is better than no chance )

There is a golden period of destiny between installing it again and trying to work out what the fuck is going on and it eventually starting to feel like a job that is almost unmatched. It is quite amazing how quickly I fall off it, though. The minute I start rubbing up against its tendency to come at me with a begging bowl I'm pretty much done. I actually had the quickest drop off ever the last time I installed it. Me and the boy finally bought Lightfall. Normally we go through the new missions for something then start some other quests and begin the grind for a bit before geting bored. This time we mainlined the main missions and bam. Never went back.
There's no way I'm buying the next pack close to launch but I know I'll get it at some point just to see how they fuck up the ending. The culmination of all this nonsensical shit. I'm just curious.

I was massively addicted to Destiny for the period of time from The Taken King (D1) to Forsaken in D2, but it was the switch to (paid) seasons that really killed it for me. The grind treadmill just got turned up to 11 and suddenly everything was monetised to hell and back.
Such a shame as I agree it was a brilliant feeling FPS that nothing else has really come close to.
I sort of hope they might chuck the last two expansions (Witch Queen and Lightfall) onto PSPlus when the new one arrives, as I sort of wouldn’t mind playing the campaigns at least…
But yeah - sticking with D2 and vaulting stuff was the beginning of the end. They really should have just made Destiny 3 and given everyone a fresh start rather than just replacing old bloat with new bloat on an endless cycle of money-grabbing misery grind.

wunty yeah, lightfall's campaign was pretty bad to begin with (especially the dudebro), but I found when I'd finished it you're not even a high enough level to wander around the patrol area. They expected you to get on the powerful/pinnacle drops hamster wheel just to get powerful enough to do fucking patrols. That was a turning point for me. Dipped in for the next couple of weeks and then just gave up. Can't remember if I even bothered opening the game for the next season.

With 4 months to the next expansion and Lightfall a year old, it baffles me why they are offering just Witch Queen on PS Plus at this point. Just put the whole lot on PS Plus and let the lapsed or the curious fill their boots on D2, surely it can only help sales of Final Shape in tne long run when the game is losing players?

Well, call me psychic or something… the Witch Queen has just been announced as one of March’s PS+ games!
Dammit looks like I may - may - be going back in…
The other games are F1 ‘23, Sifu and Hello Neighbor 2… so I guess Destiny is a bit of a bonus this month?

I don't even think Destiny 3 will ever be a thing. It's like R6 Siege they're happy with what they've got rightly or wrongly.

We don't really have a thread to cover all this, but there's EA also laying off 670 employees

Oooh, sifu has been on my list for a while but I know I'm too much of a pussy when it comes to difficulty.
Witch Queen feels a bit ridiculous, they really should be giving away Lightfall as well by now. On the plus side you're getting a far superior campaign...

It certainly plays a lot easier if you're like me.. lost all the reaction times in games a long time ago

It's a really good example of how a "souls" type difficulty design can (and should) be scaled for accessibility.

Sifu is brilliant. I paid £20 for it and it was worth every penny. Each time I go back to the DLC I then want to watch The Raid again.

Add me to that list of people that loved Destiny and D2. Not to the extent of kal and others. And to the list of people that can't get back into it anymore.
If there's a free PS+ option then I might give it a go. Then again, isn't Helldivers 2 filling that squad co-op hole at the moment?

After the positive comments in here I ordered a PS Portal. Tried the Remote Play app for the first time to see what the results might look like and it actually seems pretty decent to me so hopefully be a worthwhile purchase. Also I never get the TV anyway so should get some use out of it! Seems expensive for what it is though but I'm paying for it by flogging off the old Switch. Wife mentioned me hogging the big TV yesterday which is just the excuse I needed to buy one. Stupidly didn't realise there were supply issues. Where did you buy from? I can't find stock anywhere (except StockX and that's £60 over the odds). Hey mate just got a stock notice at the playstation store if you're still looking

My Portal has arrived! Quality is great, feels nice and weighty - patiently waiting for meetings to end so I can have a quick play.

My initial experience of the portal wasn't great, was very laggy trying to have a quick go on FC24. I then realised my LAN connection to the PS5 had never been set-up properly (remembered I tried and failed and then defaulted to wifi just to get online and forgot to get round to sorting the issue). After sorting my LAN cables properly (connected to wrong ports in the house) and getting PS5 back to wired connection that has had an impact on the portal connection.
I have also upgraded my broadband today (it was due anyway) so have a 900mb line and additional wifi disc coming which should ensure I won't have any future laggy issues. I know you can change the game settings (resolution etc) down to also impact lag if needed, but that seems very faffy having to remember to reset it back each and every time, they should have shipped the portal with functionality to natively swap the settings when playing on the Portal.
So, now I've sorted the lag I am pleased to say it's a very lovely piece of kit. Love the weight, the screen is beautiful, and so far what I've played since has worked very well. This is definitely a quality of life improvement for home life as I won't feel bad about hogging the "big TV" all the time.

What’s the general forum consensus on the Pulse headset? Decent set of cans for the PS5?

Personally I like them for gaming and movies. I think you’d struggle to do too much better for the price, I paid £70.
