Yeah, the fast loading thing is well overdue, even if it is now kind of brute force instead of optimized. That previous gen acted like everyone’s still rocking a 2x cdrom drive and a 5400 IDE HDD annoyed me.

For those with the Portal, have you got your PS5 plugged in on ethernet or are you on Wifi? I've heard ethernet makes a big difference? I've got it on wiffy. It runs fine imo. Only problem is if someone is throttling the network with a download, or I'm downloading something on PS/XBOX. It loses connection instantly when you're downloading on PS. My mate at Sony said they're working on a fix for the portal, with the latency. You may have seen it on DF with GT7. Something about specific TVs and the HDMI ports causing problems? |

I'd keep an eye out on Argos regularly, and install the hotstock app. Someone was saying on hotukdeals, that if you asked in an Argos store, they can reserve you one.. not sure how true that is! |

That is just "analysts". I was beginning to think it may not actually happen due to the fact their BOM is not coming down with time as it normally would. So I guess if this is happening you might assume the base PS5 will remain at roughly its current price, with a pro, if it happens, having a pretty premium RRP.
So buying a PS5 slim at a good price now is probably still a sensible choice

Am I being thick (probably) I don't have any existing f saves or games to transfer to my ps5.
When it arrives I assume I can just log in with my psn account and all my avalible game downloads etc etc will be there?

Yeah pretty much, if you don't have PS Plus obviously your saves won't be there, if you do remember to manually upload all your saves to the cloud, I had an issue where some games hadn't. |

The way I did the transfer of data was simply plug in a 1TB SSD drive and move the few PS4 games I had left installed to that. For the game saves I moved them to a small usb stick.

It is very annoying that the PS5 doesn't allow transferring saves to USB like the PS4, the best you can do without PS+ is a full backup to an external drive but that's a bit extreme.

There is a free Resistance game on PS5 (and 4) at the moment, it has trophies if anyone is interested. I think it is a vita port. I like the Resistance series with 3 being one of my fav PS exclusives to this day. It was as close as I could get to a Gears campaign on Sony* albeit in third person.
*this may not be the case in the next 12 months or so!

I've never gone back I had the same with about 20 games that I was 25% plus the way through, when for the first and only time I let my ps+ lapse for around a week. Lost ALL progress in games, then sold my ps4 before transferring stuff over, Xbox does al this for you so I just thought it was automatic...Do'h to say the least. As for GoT just completed it for a second time, albeit the DC on ps5, still have to start the dlc though. You should go back the game is stunning. |

The first game was pretty rubbish despite looking incredible at the time. They massively improved over the next couple of games though.
+1 for patiently waiting for a sequel all these years.

I never got on with the Resistance games either. Remember buying a PS3 at launch with a copy of the original and booting it up expecting big things and well...
Didn't help that the 360 had been out for about 17 months at that stage and we'd already seen the likes of Gears of War etc.
PS3 launch in a nutshell for me.
