General PS5 Stuff

I'll definitely be dropping my tier of PS+, I only kept premium with a £25 discount Sony gave me.

The price increases seem too big a jump.

One good thing today though, I asked the official Generation Zero Twitter account that as it was coming to PS+ were we finally getting a 60 FPS PS5 update, years after it was done for Series consoles and they actually said it was being worked on. Fucking finally! Ignore the reviews, if you're the sort of person that likes to explore a creepy abandoned Sweden on a huge map with fucktons of killer robots give it a try.

C'mon guys they're really desperate for money they need to pay for all these LCD screens attached to a PS5 controller somehow

I got premium during the last Black Friday. Doubt I’ll be renewing other than for essential. Tempted to leave it entirely for now, possibly getting essential when Elden Ring dlc is out.

Premium just doesn’t add enough on to top of Extra for the price (for me). I’ve tried a couple of the trials because they were there and same for the streaming stuff. Possibly worth it if you want to stream to a laptop all the time. Extra is decent and it’s allowed me to try a load of games I wouldn’t have bought. But other than Returnal there is nothing I’ve started and finished on there, or I’d already bought and played the stand out games.

What annoys me about Premium is that some of the PS1 catalog requires it to play, even if you’ve purchased those games previously. Ridge Racer Type 4 and Tekken 2 are only playable through Premium IIRC, even though I bought them digitally on Vita ages ago. But something like Jumping Flash, Wild Arms or Twisted Metal, I was able to just download because I owned them. It’s so inconsistent.

Yeah, not really a high profile month. Really poor one to announce the price increase too - at least if you want to try to justify that, show us that it’s valuable.

The price increase is a little nuts too, at 30%? Will have to have a hard think if the mid tier, and access to the library is worth it. There are quite a few games on there that I’d like to play (I tend to wish list them just to keep track easily) but the question is if I’ll actually spend the time with them, or if my backlog is too large for them to get a look in.

Ed: I think I stacked another year in the summer sale, so the price increase won’t actually affect me until Nov ‘24, and I tend to add the 12 months in the summer sale, so it may not be too bad.

I’m on the Essential tier, and even so I can’t justify the jump from $60 to $80 for online. Even when they do have good monthly titles, I can’t recall the last time I actually played one. I buy so many games on sale that they rarely give away something I don’t already have

They should have merged the tiers and forced everyone up to premium @£99. Jacking the price up and still charging more on top of that to stream PS1 games is robbery with violence.

But, yeah, I’m only mid-tier because of a cheap deal. The selection is pretty wank all told so I will be ditching it when it runs out.

I am going down a tier, from Essential to "fuck off I'm outta here".

Hardly ever play the the 3 games each month TBH, nor the back catalog, rarely play online these days for that matter.
