I think that’s as much a pro to a lot of people as it is a con to many. Most people aren’t like us, flicking between platforms and systems and tinkering with all the things to work the way we want. Most people have one platform and that’s all they interface with.
All the “may as well just get a Steam Deck” and “but you can already remote play on a phone” miss the point of the confidence in having an official product that just does the thing it’s designed to do with a premium feel. That’s reassuring for a very big audience, and buying into the ecosystem further has value. I still think this is overpriced and I don’t have a use case to justify it but others here already do so it’ll probably do fine. Can’t see it being a massive seller but I doubt Sony are expecting it set records. At least I‘d hope not.

I can’t see it selling as well as PSVR2 though, and that hasn’t sold as well as Sony would like. Maybe that’s why they had to raise PS+ prices. To make up the losses.

Can’t see it being a massive seller but I doubt Sony are expecting it set records. At least I‘d hope not. I would counter that by saying that this product is very much for people like us who want that kind of tech, I don't really see the mainstream appeal of this for the average person, it's very much a tech curio for the person who very much likes gadgets, just like the PSVR 2 is. I do agree that it won't be a massive seller but for the opposite reason. But like you say it's something to get you in deeper to the ecosystem but I think the average person is happy with their PS5 console at is and most likely doesn't even play it as much as we do, nor do they buy the large amount of games we do. I also think of the large amount of people who have a PS5 and only have CoD, they won't even come near this. I see the limited use case scenario for it but am still baffled at how limited the device is.

Theres a gap in the market for something that can fill those times when other people in the house want the TV. Whether the streaming will be good enough and the price is exactly fair are questionable, but if it turns out to be good I certainly won't regret buying one for what I want it for. If it was the £250-280 or whatever stupid it was rumoured at I definitely wouldn't have ordered one.

Yeah I suspect the Venn diagram of people that have a Steamdeck and people that would buy this is substantially overlapped.
That said, it’s probably more for the people who buy a Steamdeck and use it strictly for verified Steamdeck games, rather than the type of person who hacks the bios and triple boots it so they can mod the latest Russian flipware.
Basically me. It’s for me.

PlayStation Portal was just autocorrect doing its thing. The intended name was PlayStation Forkal.

I see this kind of thing as just something for people to talk about more than anything else. I doubt Sony are expecting anything big from it. Gets them in the news a bit and on tech shows (as well as Playstation) and see what people make of it

Most people got their PS5's in the first place while having a shit, now the story comes full circle.

I was comfortably sat at my home PC at 23:40 when I saw that Smyths had gone slightly early on their pre-orders so bagged a launch day one.

It's weird that I had to join a bloody Discord channel to find out when I could buy a console. Strange times they were.

Bank I worked in at Brighton had 2 people shit themselves whilst in there. 1 guy casually strolled out just shaking the logs out the bottom of his trousers.

I worked in a bank call centre in Glasgow years ago, dress code was full on suits the entire time. Went into the bathroom one day to discover a massive shit right in the middle of the floor.

Working in the civil service years ago an email chain from management was sent out about the state of the women's toilets on the first floor. Turned out someone was REPEATEDLY smearing shit on the inside cubicle walls.
Oh and someone kept puking in the men's urinals.

The floor shitter I can understand being funny, but the smearers actually have to touch the poo. A step too far.

This thread has gone in a strange direction. The news was already shitty with the PS+ price rises and it somehow got worse.

Someone was smearing shit all over the walls. Some people are fucking grim.
