200 quid is good, because when it doesn't sell well they will drop the price and have sales to the price point of what it should be.

The fact that they still aren't talking about enhancements to the latency of Remote Play really does make me think this is just going to give the same experience possible today with a phone/tablet and controller (albeit in one unit) - and not one like the WiiU.
I wasn't really in the target group for this anyway, I prefer to game on the TV and don't have to fight for it, but if I was then this would be a deal breaker.

I had a pretty positive experience using the Vita to remote play on the PS4 during lockdown so if it's built on that I'll be quite happy. Will come in handy when the Mrs wants the TV.

I can see myself getting this. My Mrs is fond of terrible reality shows or whatever YA series is out on Netflix.
I could get good use out of this I think, but will wait for a sale.

Might as well put the extra bit of money towards a steam deck imo if you want something to play stuff on while the TV is in use. From what I've heard it works well with PS5 streaming, although I suppose this may blow it out of the water if it's using a direct connection to the console.
Just seems daft to spend that kind of money on a one trick pony.

I also saw that it won't be able to stream the Premium PS Plus streaming games.
Err, what?

Sorry Sony, but this feels like a one-trick pony...
I'm usually a sucker for new-and-shiny stuff, but this is too much even for me...

I also saw that it won't be able to stream the Premium PS Plus streaming games. Err, what? I wonder if this is a latency issue, as it's streaming to the console which is then streaming to the Portable? I wonder if they can't do to a high enough quality so they've just ruled it out. Or maybe there's just some other reason they've decided it's a no go.

Perhaps but then that feels like a big oversight on their part as to why there isn't a direct option to stream PS Plus directly to the device.

Does that price include stick drift guaranteed after 4 months.

They say you need a connection of 15mbps for "the best experience", I have 900mbps and even sitting in the same room as the console and router, when I stream on remote play it's decent but you still can't play any action games properly due to lag.
A huge shame, I thought this would be the perfect thing as I play a fair bit of PS5 over Steam Deck which is great but, as mentioned above, has its issues, I really thought/stupidly hoped that this would be a proper PS5 handheld.
Oh well.

An update to allow it to stream directly from PS+ is just a matter of time surely?
Can't quite fathom them being that short sighted.

I guess a stream of a stream would feel like dogshit to play.

I don't see why it would be a difficult thing to implement. With the correct setup, you could have the PSP "authorise" via a local PS5 then stream directly from the cloud server, there wouldn't be any more lag than streaming to a PS5. Or is that just too simplistic?

It would need to be a handheld PS5 surely, which it's intentionally not.

But the PS5 doesn't do any processing when it's streaming games from PS Plus, as far as I'm aware. And they are doing a beta test of cloud streaming PS5 games over PS Plus, so they're working on server infrastructure. Xbox can do it and stream direct to a phone, so I'm struggling to find a reason why Sony can't do it to a dedicated handheld.

It should be incredibly easy. Just make it bypass your local PS5 when it comes to the PS Now titles. Remote play for installed games, wifi for Now.
Them choosing not to is another issue altogether.

Fair enough. I assumed there would be something required for it to recieve direct/bypass the PS5 entirely. If not maybe they will.
I’m sure they’d announced a new streaming thing a while back. I can’t find it now, so maybe it was just the PS5 thing you mention.

Seen a few previews on YT now and all have commented how seamless the gameplay feels. Obviously under perfect conditions but still promising.

Saints Row is the headline for Ps Plus this September. The other two games haven't been leaked yet.

Have they gone back to the Aldi GTA or is it still weird superpowers and Aliens? They really went OTT in a wrong way with some of the games.

It's a looooooooooooooooooooot closer to the first two games, I enjoyed it after picking it up cheap some months after the launch so the dreadful state it was then was pretty much fixed. It's flawed but it's a fun time. The LARP missions are ridiculously silly too.

Seconded it, I had fun with it. And yeah, it’s a lot more down to earth than the previous two.

Glad that I didn't bother buying it from the Turkish store now (not that I'd be much out of pocket).
SR3 remastered scratched an itch that GTA5 never did.
