It looks like nice kit to me. If it promises a rock solid connection I’m probably in.

Yeah, I think it looks alright and will be tempted at a decent price and dependant on performance.

Any headset recommendations? Moved house and I can't have the sound on now late at night (as the main bedroom is next to where I play).
Can probably stretch to £200 but don't have to if not required! Preferably something that I can link to other stuff too.

I have the Sony H7 for the PS5, which has some other compatibility. There are H5(?) and H9 models too. Other than that I’d go for a Steel Series Arctis.
I’ve tried the Pulse and some other stuff and don’t like them personally.

If it's compatibility with other stuff without having to plug a cable into the controller, then Arctis 7X is your best bet. (although you've got way more options if an Xbox isn't one of the other things)
They're not astounding, but they're comfy for extended sessions.

Pulse I love, especially for the price they're. Don't know about compatibility with anything else though.

Do you actually need a mic/headset? Sound quality wise, you’re best off with a decent pair of wired headphones plugged into the pad, imvho

Previous pulse headsets work very well with PC for me, so presumably still do if they use a dongle.
Not Xbox though, and I never actually tried them with a docked switch

Yeah, I noticed Xbox seems difficult....I don't actually know where mine is, was going to steal my son's newer one for Starfield...
I think Pulse and Steel Series Arctis are the tabs I have open on Amazon after my "research". Will probably go for the the Arctic.

I never got on with the Pulse but had the Arctis 7+ which were ace until battery died and so just received the Arctis Nova 7P (£175) on warranty replacement which I think is bob on. Sound out of the box is pretty much perfect for my tastes whereas other Arctis headsets I had to play around the the EQ too much for my liking.

The Astro A50 are the best sounding ones Ive tried. With a bit of EQing they acual sound decent with music, too.

TBF, I just use my XM3s for gaming and they're comfortable and still great. Still bizarre that a Sony product pair with another Sony product Bluetooth wise. It's almost as if their different departments don't talk to each other.

I have a few headsets but tend to use my phillips fidelio or grado more often than not. They just sound better and, obviously, never need charging.

The dolby atmos thing sounds interesting.
Also, why the fuck did they setup the system gui the way they did? It still baffles me. I.e., if I fire up a game, I select it and press x. Fine.
But to come out of a game, I've got to hold down the ps button for a specific amount of time to get to the home screen. Then, I've got to press it for a medium amount of time to highlight the close game option. Then, for fucks sake, I've got to press it very quickly to bring up the bottom menu to select shut down.
Still baffles me. It's the most unintuitive menu system I've experienced.

I just press the button once to get the bar and then select what I want from there. It feels like the opposite of unintuitive.

It feels unintuitive after 10 years of PS4 muscle memory willing you to do pretty much the opposite.

I just do everything the long winded way via the short press menu. Closing a game via the loader menu feels like a few moves too many, but everything else is within reach.

It's the fact you have to press the same button 3 times but each time it's for a specific amount of time. It messes with my brain every time.

There are only two button-press durations surely. Quick single press, and press and hold.

What does press and hold do?

Ok, I'm doing it now, quitting diablo 4
Press and hold ps button to bring back ps5 gui
Press ps button quicker than above to bring up the game icons menu and then press x to confirm
Then a very quick tap of ps button to bring the bottom ps5 menu up to select shut down.
It's shite. Or at least, I don't get on with it.

Any particular reason you're shutting down the application in the first place? If you're turning the console off (the app will get shutdown during it) or going into rest mode (then it'll be suspended) so there's no need. If you want to play something else just start it. Now this is something I do miss from the PS4 - it'd warn you if you were going to start a game while one was already running, the safety net isn't there now.
Pretty much the only time I'll actually close a game is if it's crashed in some way otherwise I don't bother.
