That doesn't change that's there are only 3 options though. Accept/wait for a sale/get a new hobby.
There is obviously the gamepass option but you could also wait for it to go on ps plus in a year or so.

They need to actually make games like God of War to make gamepass attractive for me tho. I was playing Halo, Gears, Forza almost half my life ago and they were way better versions than the tripe they dish out under those names these days to boot.

In the case of MS at least there's another option and I get to play every MS game at launch for about £4 a month through Gamepass which is part of the reason why £70 is so galling. What MS games? They've released fuck all. Well nothing worthwhile besides maybe Halo. Didn't want my comment to take the discussion in that direction, was more to do with how I rationalise my gaming spend in a post Gamepass/£400 a month fuel bill world. The killer is that all the best first party stuff is on PS5 but I miss out on it as I'm not paying £70. Spent £40 on Gamepass over the last 12 months and thoroughly rinsed Halo and Forza let alone the Bethesda and EA catalogues. Halo and Forza plus everything else for £40 or GoW for £70. I can't bring myself to pull the trigger. Same with Ratchet and Clank. Need to wait for decent sales or better still, hope Sony add all their first party stuff to PS Premium in which case I'd sub to that too rather than just PS+

Yeah Gamepads has stopped me buying pretty much any new games. It does help to have mates happy to lend games to each other.
Also for a 100% single player game, buying early does have the benefit that you'll probably be done with it in a fortnight so you can flog it on eBay and get two thirds of your money back.

Bollocks, reviews make me really want to pick this up but I can't support £70 game prices. ...Just wait until "Dec" swapsies thread...

If the disk version is an option for peeps, I would certainly be tempted to buy it than flog it a couple of weeks later for £50. The game only costs you £20 and then wait for its return on PS+. This year I have bought 2 games on PS5. Elden Ring and GT7. Bought for approximately £104. I will probably end up getting this for £63 on PS credit. That's only £170 quid for a hobby I really enjoy over the year. Make that £250 adding PS+ Extra prescription. £20 a month, probably spend that in one night in a pub.
I know people are struggling these days but that is not much for a years worth of jolly good fun. You just have to be selective of the games you really want.

I’m now tempted to run through the first game again, but I won’t be able to start it until launch day of 2.

I’m now tempted to run through the first game again Same. I had a few trophies to mop up for Platinum but never got around to it (that last bastard Valkyrie included). Should look see if my PS4 saves are still there in the cloud.

Hope there’s an option for Scandinavian voice with English subs. I can’t be doing with a Texas drawl for Dwarves or a New Jersey Odin (Metro review)

I played through it recently, so naturally, I have succumbed to the pre-orderings.
I can't actually remember the last time I paid full price for a game, tbh.
In anticipation, I have downloaded the PS+ freebie PS4 remaster of GoW 3 for a laugh.

Any reviews of the PS4 version kicking about?
Really looking forward to this, even though I thought the first was a bit jack of all trades and wasn't phenomenal in any single way (except completely redeeming Kratos as a character).
Bonkers how the story is the thing I'm most looking forward to in a God of War game.

I'm sure it'll run well enough. I've noticed a few comparisons on YouTube but haven't watched them.

Apparently it's a rock solid PS4 version, other than making it sound like a jet engine apparently it's exceptional performance. DF pretty much said every version is great.

Fuck sake hadn't realised there was a 120fps mode. Hate having too many choices.

I did finish the last GOW, one of the few I platinumed I enjoyed it so much. Bastard Boss Valkyrie fight still gives me nightmares Strangely, not really drawn to getting this one just yet, the £60 price point still sticks in my craw, even with $40 sitting on my US account unspent. Might save it for Calisto. Edit Heh, £70 not £60, Yikes, digital only PS5 for me before you all start

My luxurious LG OLED has the magic frame rate thing on it so it'll still look quite a bit smoother at 80. Sounds like 4k60 is the way to go though.

Have they said the graphics are a big step up? Doing media blackout but would like to know how whelmed I'll be.

It doesn't look that huge a step up in the few videos I've but most of the reviews synopsis I've read way it's stunning. Especially in scale.

Anyone know if PSVR2 will be available at retailers in the UK at launch, or only direct via Playstation? I've got a bunch of John Lewis vouchers that I'll use on something else if not.

Not big like in the gap between horizon 1 and 2 but as Decks say scale is one thing and just overall polish. I think it's best described as proper polished pc port of a PS4 game and even though performance mode is a lower resolution it essentially looks 4k.

I believe most if not all of Europe is direct from Sony at launch. Saw it as a headline from GI.biz if you wanted to dig deeper.

I fancied playing through God of War again ahead of Ragnarok on easy so I had the story fresh in my mind. About 4 hours in on Friday, I realised I'd left it too late and massively overfaced myself to get it done before Wednesday, even with enemies made out of digestive biscuits. I found a cracking story recap on YouTube I watched in 3 or 4 sittings I thought I'd share in case anyone fancied doing the same. 5 and a half hours like, but it keeps in the boss fights and just enough gameplay bits to give the cutscenes enough context and flow to not feel disjointed. youtu.be/Yxo__D6jt6I

I believe the game actually has a recap of the first one for this very thing.

Ha, of course it does. At least I get to skip it now and jump straight in I guess.
Good video that though if anyone's looking for something a little more in-depth.
