I never finished the first either. Probably should do, although I would have to start it from the beginning.
Honestly, I didn't see what was particularly special about it. Certainly enjoyed it enough, but thought it was mostly just fine.

Gah... Hype train is beckoning me, but I never finished the last one either. I should probably suck it up and start it again rather than wasting £60ish.

It's very story based so I would definitely finish the first one before starting the second. Plus the first one is fucking amazing.

The 2nd is very much a part 2, rather than straight sequel, and for the most part will play the same (obviously with some improvements). It makes sense to play the first, which is great, and get both the similar gameplay and the story before moving on to the second. And you may save a little money in the process.

The first one gets better as you go through too, so if you’ve left it hanging definitely go back. The end is really strong.

I haven't had to watch a single trailer, read a single preview or review to know it's going to be amazing. The first one spoke for itself and even if it were just more of the same I was always going to lap that shit up.
Can not wait, I know absolutely nothing about what's going down in the game other than the fact Thor is a slob and some very strange people got angry about that online.

94 after 111 reviews on metacritic now. Just hook this game to my veins already

By contrast, the first is one of the few games I have completed in the last few years. Absolutely loved it.

It's up there with my favourite games ever, probably top 3. Combines my love of father son stuff with my love of stoving people's fucking head in with an axe.

Funny story, I never liked the original GoW games and the PS4 reboot wasn't even on my radar. But my kid managed to buy it on my account by accident while I was at work (must have been like the first thing on the store page as it had just launched).
Best accident ever.

For contrast, I did finish the first game and thought it was merely very good. Also, I've heard this one is very much more of the same, and a lot of it, so ploughing several hours into the first then jumping straight into the second might not be the best bet. Especially considering there must be a reason you didn't finish the first one.

The first one gets better as you go through too, so if you’ve left it hanging definitely go back. The end is really strong. I've tried it twice and got to the bit where it starts to open up a bit and they introduce flying enemies IIRC, which immediately put me off. Loved the story up until then, though. Fuck it, that's next in line after I've finished Signalis.

If nothing else, if it isn’t for you you’re not out 70 quid on the game either.

The first feels fantastic after the PS5 patch too. I'd definitely recommend playing it before the second, even if you just stick it on easy to get through the story.

Yeah, I put it on to see how it looked when I first got my PS5 and ended up playing through the whole thing again (on NG+, which is fucking nails)

I need to go back and give the first one another shot tbh. I enjoyed it up to a point, but got a bit bored after a stretch of it that just felt like it wouldn’t end and never went back.

Yeah I played it again on the PS5 a few months ago and it felt as much a PS5 game as pretty much anything released so far.

I finished the first game on PS4 but only did 2 or 3 valkyries. Went for 2nd hardest mode on PS5 and ended up getting a platinum for the game. Not something I do normally but really got sucked into it the second time and it is such a stunning looking game.

I've never been so close to breaking a control pad as that last fucker you had to fight once you've collected all the heads. Kept losing control at her last bit of health and getting stunlocked into Valhalla.

Bollocks, reviews make me really want to pick this up but I can't support £70 game prices.

The issue won't be going away. Phil Spencer has practically confirmed ms games will be 70 quid in the new year as well which will normalise it across the industry.
You either accept games are 70 quid now, wait for sales or find a new hobby.

In the case of MS at least there's another option and I get to play every MS game at launch for about £4 a month through Gamepass which is part of the reason why £70 is so galling.

Same as 2 pints of milk and a tub of Lurpak these days. Its an easy choice to be playing Ragnarok at launch.

You either accept games are 70 quid now, wait for sales or find a new hobby. It’s been this way since the generation launched, but it hasn’t stopped it being a point of contention or conversation. I’m pretty sure MS were supposed to do it then too, but they did a late game switcheroo to gain favour, like Sony did with discs at the start of the PS4 lifecycle.

They've released fuck all. Well nothing worthwhile besides maybe Halo.
