Dirt 5 messed me up, had to turn off most of the vibration/haptics. Then they made it worse in a patch and I had to turn it all off! It made my hands go numb in a way that I hadn’t run into since the original Rallisport on Xbox. The game being absolute shit was just insult to injury at that point.

Genuinely quite relieved it's not just me getting pain and does indeed confirm I'm too old for this shit.
Think I may turn off the impulse triggers to see if it makes a difference. I think I'm finding the pad generally comfortable, and I like the feel in the hand far more that the DS4, but maybe it's just poor ergonomically.
Maybe time to start doing hand and arm stretches..!!

Yeah, some racing games do me in too. Usually find myself reaching for the settings straight away if it's constant.

I think it’s far less comfortable than the DS4, which I considered the first even useable controller Sony ever made, a vast improvement, maybe second-best controller ever.

I'm old enough to remember those TV ads for claims against 'vibration white finger'. I think it featured in our mining-heavy region more than some areas of the UK.

August looks like a solid month for the basic PS+ tier. PS5 version of THPS is bonus considering its usually a paid update;
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 (PS4/5), Yakuza: Like A Dragon (PS4/5) and Little Nightmares (PS4).

There’s been some news that isn’t really news about PSVR2 in recent days, like “it has a front-facing camera in it!” which I’m sure we knew already. I’m pretty desperate to hear anything about when it’s coming.
I went through a list of “upcoming games” and the only one relevant to me is The Callisto Protocol, which currently comes out on my birthday. Anything else is undated or not actually coming to PlayStation. (“but let’s keep Bethesda games on this list just in case, and to pad it out a bit”)

Been meaning to play Pro Skater and LAD. Pretty certain I have had Little Nightmare free on PC and never got around to it, but also looks a good one.

All the Yakuza games are coming to the PS Collection for the top 2 user tiers, over a few months.

I think it's a mix. Some of them on the middle tier and all on the upper tier.

Looking forward to trying this new firmware. I usually play the PS5 on the HDMI input of my 1440p PC monitor so this is ideal for me. I wonder if it will have a performance boost for games that can render at 1440p natively?

You won't get a performance increase at 1440p as it's still going to be rendering it at the original output resolution (setting a PS5 to 1080p res in settings makes no performance difference unlike it did sometimes on Pro), you should notice better image quality though as you won't be dependent on your monitor scaling it from 4K to 1440p and it will be downsampling on the PS5 as well.

The blog does mention that 1440p displays may have better anti-aliasing though.
"Or, if you’re playing a game with a higher native resolution like 4K, then you may benefit from improved anti-aliasing through supersampling down to 1440p output."

My TV only does 120Hz at 1440p, so I'll probably take a look when it's out of beta.

Just in case anyone wants to try the system software beta but doesn't have an email. Code can be used 4 more times apparently.

Thx, used code once, how it didn't launch with folders is beyond me
Having said that, just checked and unless I am missing something a pretty pointless implementation of folders.
Sigh.

I was expecting you to have a few I didn't, but I suppose the Peppa Pig game will have to do.

Aren't they phasing out the lightning connector too? Feels like it's a few years too late to market...

What is the current forum-sanctioned optimal path to PSPlus subscriptions? Mine lapsed maybe four years ago, so I'll be coming at it fresh. As best I can tell, get a 12 month code for £50 from somewhere like CDKeys and that converts to 66% of the PSPlus Extra tier? Am I on the right track?

I've not worked out the exact pounds and pence saving but getting an £80 or £90 voucher (£69.85 or £75.85 from ShopTo) to buy a year of Extra at £84 may be less hassle and the same if not a quid or two cheaper than that way?

Farkin' 'ell! This "sale" on PSN really doesn't deserve the name. Reckon I'll stick to the PSPlus Game Collection for now, because they can get fucked at £50-70 for some of those games.
