Oh god... Dropped a bit of a clanger here, ey? If there's any talk about the Football League, great, but I'm not against deleting the thread if it gets no traction.

Happens to best of us mate, just ask David De Gea.
Well so far we have Stoke and Bradford. Let’s see if anyone else turns up to the EFL party…

Call it getting used to the new forum, expecting everything to come through the new posts view like EG, completely forgot the sub sections exist.
Please feel free to move it over / delete as necessary.
We've carted off about 14 players now, fucking off the last of the chaff from the relegation hangover and bought in players with a good attitude. I've been a Stoke fan long enough not to expect a run through the season with any sort of success at the end, but there's something really fresh about this team. And they're actually playing football which is a bonus on the last few years. Seeing fans talk about the potential of promotion at this point makes me vomit.

I'm a Forest fan and we are getting punished by the football gods for laughing at Derby.

Not the football league, but somehow my local side Grimsby have managed to sell 6700 home seats for the home game against Wrexham tonight. Wish I was going. Not bad going for non league.

Now that the mighty Blades have finally remembered how to play football again I am all over this.
Where's Stickman when you need him?

Derby in administration. Hard not to laugh. Ownership are utter scum. Feel for the fans a bit though, never fun watching your club collapse.

It’s not unexpected. It’s the old ‘you need a billionaire not a millionaire’ thing.
Mel threw a load of money at trying to go up a few years ago and when that failed whined about having to to put his hand in his pocket at every opportunity. He was going to turn the rap off sooner or later, I’m actually surprised it took this long.

I was just chatting about this with my dad. I’m no Gabriel Marcotti but I don’t think we will be able to weather 21 points this season.
Funnily enough, I’m also no mystic meg but I said this would happen when the 9 points got deferred. We were definitely going to go pop at some point this year, we were just deferring the pain.

I was wondering where this thread was - can it be moved?
Derby have been ticking time bomb for a good few years now and it's finally caught up with them.
As others have mentioned, the 9 point deduction was coming anyways and you know things are bad when Tom Lawrence is your captain. The next few years are going be pretty rough for Derby fans.

They are genuinely claiming ‘force majeure’ to stave off the big points deduction which, honestly, I can see them letting us have. I doubt we will be the last club to shit themselves this season and these have been fairly extraordinary circumstances.
It is a weird one, though. I watched us when we were in the third tier, it’s when I started going and you still got pumped for a game. Will the world end if we go down and can’t pay a Rooney 100k a week? Probably not. You see pep asking people to actually attend city games and you realise it’s just a house of cards and a game of football is a game of football.

Perhaps The Great Reset conspiracy theory was all about football. Shit football, but no-one cared as it was cheap to get in and you could have a laugh with your mates. Even terraces are coming back. We've already got the hooliganism.

It also didn't help that they pretty much chucked the kitchen sink at Lampard.
It must be rough being a Wycombe fan this week knowning that they should've stayed up. The Championship is pretty much built on cards and I'm expecting a few more teams to suffer the same fate including us (Cardiff).

It was the Clement era when Morriss first bought the club that the rot started. We bought two or three really shit players for 7 million every year and topped that up with even worse 4m ones. Then we went through a load of managers and were paying severance packages.
That first push 15-17 saddled us with absolute dogshit on super high wages and we never really recovered from from it. The lampard season was a fluke, really. We were carried by three extraordinarily talented loan signings (I mean, Mount became an England regular the year after). I don't like him myself but the Nigel Pearson fiasco is us summed up.

Is there a specific reason why they've unable to find a buyer considering how long they've been up for sale? Derby are hardly a small club so I can only guess their financial situation must be pretty dire.

The usual play seems to be let the club sink as low as possible then buy it at the low point? Or at least that's always been my uneducated and completely speculative view.

As a Peterborough fan the point deduction is great news for us, unfortunatley we're likely to need another 2 clubs to do the same thing to stay up.

Is that Man Utd’s champions league super sub Nick Powell scoring for Stoke? Was a tidy finish.

Not surprised that Keogh won his claims in court, how the hell did the Derby management and board expect that misconduct and payoff to stick, whilst the perpetrators had not much more than a slapped wrist. Absolute shambles.
They are now our nearest 'big' club and my lad follows their soap opera as some of his classmates were in the youth academy and others ard diehard Rams fans. Unsurprising that a lot of the supporters have been up arms in some for some time now.
Results like yesterday, and potential for further points deductions are making for a grim year all round. Just hope thay can resolve this and push on before it is too late.

The way Keogh was treated was disgraceful, the only one who didn’t commit a criminal offence. He was irresponsible and stupid, sure, but sacking him whilst letting the other saleable assets off the hook was a monumentally stupid decision. He had and has his faults, but he was our captain and near ever present for 8 years or so - i can only imagine what the rest of the squad thought, seeing how the club hung him out to dry like that
